not just me, but my youngest brother was with me... we tried to experiment as we read and watched pros do it...having known that we can actually bake one made up of just sugar and though the most, we attacked the pans... my fingers got burnt by the melting of sugar, never thought that the smoke (?) coming from the melting sugar was very hot. we over heat the pans and wallah, though we set the temperature to 75 degrees, we over baked it... the burnt sugar cake got burnt... we had our laughs...we enjoyed it.. now we can bake carrot cakes, banana cakes, lemon chifon and yes, chocolate cookies with lots of macademia nuts. what was your first baking experience like?

Hello asia and welcome to myLot. You reminded me of my first pie. I ws about 11 years old when I wanted to make a pie. I was living with an aunt at the time. She was at a neighbors but told me what to do. I was to take 2 cups of flour and add 2 cup of shorting. I knew what flour and shorting was but for some reason put 2 cups of flour and a cup of baking powder together. The flour and shorting is supposed to mix into pea size balls. As you can guess mine didn't. any way I did make a good pie crust in the end with the help of my aunt. I don't remember what kind of pie it was.

I tried making that burnt sugar cake before and I did it only once. It didnt turn out very well so I got discouraged and I started making other goodies and finally had someone to teach me in how to make sponge cake. This week, I am making some choco chip cookies.

I can't bake I have burnt many batches of cookies and cakes. I have tried making them so many times but always something or the other don't seem to be right and it's a mess. Anyway I have given up trying to bake coz i know it's not my thing. Anyway I know how to reheat food though LOL
