Hi friends, Have you ever enjoyed durian? They're very smell and delicious Durian is one kinds of tropical fruits. They have a strong smell and sweet. Some of people can't stand their smell and they can't eat them. But if you have eaten them once time, you'll love them. I'm too. I can't eat them before. But I trained step by step. Now, I can eat them. I even love to eat, hihi However, we shouldn't eat durian much. Because they're quite "hot". It's not good for health if we eat too much.

Hi tkonlinevn I have never heard of these and thought them to look like pastries but then I read your discussion and they are hot. Hot like peppers? But yet have tropical fruit? I wonder if a certain member knows about these, she is one who posts a lot of discussions about cooking and food. She gives me a lot of ideas so I am forwarding you link to her. She probably is not online right now but I know she will be interested in knowing.

Hi hardworkinggurl What tkonlinevn meant was, you will be burning hot (as in heat) inside, if you eat too much of durian, not that it is spicy.

Wow! Durian is just a very delectable and very nutritious seasonal fruit that is found in the Asia, in the Philippines i know. It's quite expensive due to it very unique variation but it's very satisfying. Though not all are given the chance to eat more esp. those people who have high-blood pressure, but it contains lots of minerals, vitamins and health benefits. Eating a quite amount of this is also drinking a glass of milk and a load of eggs. Durian can be processed into different varieties of goodies too like durian candies, boat tarts, pies and many other kinds. For those who haven't tried tasting or eating Durian, when you go to the Philippines it is mostly found in Mindanao.

It's funny that you asked this today. Just last night, my son was showing me some YouTube videos of Andrew Zimmerman and Bizarre Foods. This guy has eaten many a bizarre food - from worms to ants to male body parts of animals. Rarely is he not able to eat at least some of each new bizarre food. But he could not eat durian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75vm9ik5pjo

Never ate durian. Just the small makes me turn away from it. Even the pastillas or any sweets that are made from it makes me evasive of the fruit. I don't try loving it at all :(

When I was a little child, I didn't like durian at all because of its bad smell. Later when I grow up, one day I tasted the durian occasionally. It is strange, because it is not as bad as before. So I started to accept this new fruit and now I enjoy eating it:) I love China

Hi. tkonlinevn I don't think that I have ever tried durian before. I have heard of it on myLot though. I will have to taste it to see what it tastes like. Maybe then, I will know whether or not if I have tried it. I love eating many fruits, so I know that I would love to try this for myself.

Hi! i love durian, here in my country durian thrives only in the southern part and it is very expensive that is why not all of us have tasted durian already. The first time i ate durian was ten years ago and i came to love the taste. We even have a durian ice cream here. When i had the opportunity to visit the place where there is a durian farm i really went there and ate the fruit. It was so delicious and it sweet. I like it frozen because it tastes like ice cream. My friend from that place also brought me to a coffee shop where they serve coffee with durian. It was so tasty and delicious but it made me feel like i was intoxicated. They said that eating too much durian really makes you feel that way and it is an aphrodisiac they say.

I'm lucky. Because durian is not too expensive in my country. So, I can buy them when I like. Durian is exported to cold countries. I think that all people can taste their smell.

I haven't tried eating durian. I hate the smell, my friends said that though it smells like poop it tastes so good, but I don't want to try. It really smells yucky! My mother said that I should try it because it is loaded with vitamins and it good to our body.

Hi, i live in singapore and durian is a very popular food in singapore. I love to eat durians. Indeed, it is a hot food and we should not eat too much of it. However, i do have a suggestion for you. after finishing the durian, you can use the shell (the part containing the durian flesh) and put some water in it. this method is used by many to "cool" themselves after eating durian.

Hi dream_ozn, It's the first time I hear about drinking water in durian sheel can make us feel "cool". However, I will try. Do you usually eat durian?

sorry for the durian lovers, but i cant eat them! specially the fruit. for the major reason is the smell. my aunt lives in zamboanga and whenever she visits us, she always bring durian, good thing, she also bring candies made from durian, thats what we love, the durian flavored candies, very sweet and doesnt have the same smell as the fruits.

I had many chances if trying out durian but I never did. It might be because of the smell. But a lot of my friends told me that its very delicious indeed. Just like what you are telling now. Perhaps one day I will certainly try it out. What I have just eaten so far is durian candy. Actually my favorite fruit is avocado. But I do not eat it raw. I usually shake it mix with milk, sugar and ice.

Hi friends, Yes, I have tasted Durian and I've loved this fruit ever since I first tasted it when I went to General Santos City (Philippines). Here in this locality, you can see vendors along the street with wooden tables beside their stalls so their clients can eat the fruit right after it is opened. This is actually the best time to eat the fruit - when it is freshly sliced. It does not smell as strong, but it tastes very heavenly. I've never tasted any other fruit which I've loved more than Durian. It is really incomparable because the texture is different, the flesh is very creamy and smooth in the mouth, but not too sweet unlike other fruits. I was able to purchase Durian at a fruit stand near our house here in Manila, and I thought that opening the fruit was easy. Not quite easy for a woman :( I ended up having sore hands with a lot of cuts and swollen fingers. Nevertheless, after successfully cutting the fruit open, which also didn't look as nice as in the pictures, I still enjoyed my Durian, and would always think of it as my favorite. I also found out that there's an abundance of this fruit in Asian countries since I saw that they were selling it in Vietnam during a short vacation last year. Durian is said to be an aphrodisiac, hence the term "hot" which is associated with it. Nevertheless, it can be attributed to the high fat content - 20% that is found in every fruit. It is actually a very nutritious fruit, but I could say that the good health benefits of Durian far outweigh the bad ones so if you know that you're healthy, then it wouldn't be harmful if you took Durian once in a while :)

Thank you for your sharing. You're right about durian. They're really delicious. But we shouldn't eat too much, they're maybe not good for health.

I've only ever tried the durian-flavored candies... I don't think I've ever seen, smelled, or eaten the real thing. But the fruit is common in the south of the country. There's one thing I remember about this fruit though. I went to Malaysia once and there were signs in the hotels saying it's not allowed to be brought inside. Hahaha!
