Is It Stupid People Are Old Enough To Go To War But Still Can't Legally Drink?

I don't think it makes much sense. I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18. It just doesn't make any sense for someone to have a leg blown off in a war and then still not be of legal age to consume alcohol.

Since when did it make any sense for someone to have a leg blown off in a war?

I think you missed my point. I tended to agree with yours, however, so felt it wasn't worth commenting on. In this country, you can join the forces and legally drink at the same age, so you have TWO chances of getting legless.

Luckily,in my country the drinking age is 18 and the military service is optional, only for those who really want to make a career in the army and want to feel the excitement of going to war and killing others or eventually having a leg blown off or being killed in a stupid war,so from this point of view I love my country.

Personally, I think they should keep the drinking age at 21 and raise the enlistment age to 21 since so many people don't know what they really want at 18 and later regret enlisting, but are stuck ina contract they can't get out of.

honestly, sedel1027 i think your idea is better then mine. people at 18 have tough decisions to make. i think giving them plenty of time to think about what they want to do would be better instead of just rushing into things.

This has always been an issue. Drinking age was reduced in some areas. And in most of those it was raise again. Why? They couldn't handle it. Can you guarantee that stupid young people won't drink and drive? If not, then it should not even be discussed. Frankly, based on the statistics of how many drivers get in to wrecks - and how many are fatal - I wish they would raise the driving age to 21 as well.

I think that if we ask 18 year olds to put their lives on the line in war then we should grant them all the adult benefits they are trying to protect.

I have always said if they are old enough at 18 to decide to go in the service, at take a chance of going to war then they should have the same rights as all adults. If they are not old enough for that, then they should up the military age.

The only thing I can think of is that in the war they are disciplined and or trained while a minor drinking perhaps would not be supervised and or guided properly on with the consequences of drinking.
