Pretty much anything in the Bible is open to interpretation depending on the translator and the reader, I think this part if the one often referred to as being anti tattoo too, Deuteronony something or other?

people interpret the bible differently, the basic reason why the so many religions nowadays. Philippians and Corinthians talk about clean body and mutilation. I don't wanna delve into the meanings, but here are the passages: Philippians 3:2 (Whole Chapter) Look out for those dogs [Judaizers, legalists], look out for those mischief-makers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. 2 Corinthians 7:1 (Whole Chapter) THEREFORE, SINCE these [great] promises are ours, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates and defiles body and spirit, and bring [our] consecration to completeness in the [reverential] fear of God. i hope this helps.

Who cares, If your gonna do it, then do it. Don't let people or a book tell you what to do with your life. And When, or If, you get sick of it, you can just take it out. I've had my belly button periced 3 times by a pro once myself, my toung, by a pro and my lip (not my labret) by a pro, and of course my ears. now I'm a mom so i just simply took them out before baby did.

I have to agree that this should have been answered already. I hope I can help, but like you said it depends on who you ask and how you interpret the Bible. I believe that our body is a temple of God and that we should not destroy it with any means. Saying this, I do smoke, but I am trying to quit, because I know that it is not right in the eyes of God. It is destroying my body and also my childrens from 2nd hand smoke. I found a verse that talks about our bodies being a temple of God, and we are not to destroy it. I Cor. 3:16 and 17. I will see if I can find more. I know they are in there. Hope this helps

Piercings do not destroy your body. Exodus 32:2-3: "And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron."

If your body is a temple to god, then that means you shouldn't eat foods that are bad for you, either. Also, there's a verse in the bible that says eating meat is wrong. It's really all up to inturpretation.

Don't forget that the bible is written by men and not by God. I am sorry but i don't believe in living by the word of the bible. Living by the word of God is another thing i would do.

This depends on the person wether they want to be pierced or not, or wether they like it or not. I personally don't, but I love tattoos instead.

It doesn't as far as I know. However, many construe it that way because they see it as defiling the body, like getting a tattoo. I don't think it's a desecration of the body, but some nut job religions do. The body is the temple of the Lord, blah, blah, blah. And earrings are seen as decorations in some cultures and apparently God doesn't want you to decorate your body. According to some. Just like the religions that don't allow women to wear pants, shorts or make-up.

I think when it comes to interpreting the bibles intent in that regard, there's nothing specific. If one is looking to follow it's council, you would have to understand the spirit in which the text were written. In case of body ornaments it's all about modesty, which in that case means it would differ depending on which culture or part of the world you are in. If one was to interpret it to be just wrong completely, then they would have to do away with earrings as well, and there are very few people against this practice. So basically, it comes down to how you are viewed. If a person claims to be a person of God, would most people look at how they are dressed and think otherwise. That's probably the most simple way to interpret it I think. After taking that into account you'd have to decide how to adorn yourself in accordance to your concience.

indeed it is written in levictus. but then again it is also written in the book that its also a sin to plant two different kinds of seeds in the same bed.. wearing clothes made of two different kinds of yarn.. and so much more that if we take it to the heart, it will be nearly close to impossible to live in this day and age.

My only reponse for this is that the Bible tells us that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Why would you want to damage it more than we already do on a daily basis!!! And this i mean, by the things we eat, what we say, what we look at and what we desire. I hope God will enlighten you~ so that you will make a good decision!
