Why are we as humans so interested in the lives of other people? We read gossip magazines, watch reality shows, and follow their lives on social networks. Do you do these kinds of things? If so, why do you do them? What interests you about other people's lives?

This is one of the main reason I believe that reality tv took off

I'm not so into the reality shows or the gossip magazines. I have watched and read them before, but it's not a common habit for me. I think there is a certain curiousity that people just have about others. They might use these things to justify the way they live themselves in comparison or people just might be entertained by another person's reality. Curiousity about other places and people might be a pulling force too.

I enjoy watching the reality shows that depict people living rich and fancy lives. I am curious about the lifestyle and wonder alot about it. And with some I get rather entangled in their lives and get alittle obsessed by how they live, what they get to do, the places they go, clothes, and etc.

Things like with Charlie Sheen people are unhappy with their own lives and feel empty so they want to see other people, especially celebrities, suffer. As I heard Dr. Drew said, we like to "build them up and then break them down. after then we will give them a second chance to ease our guilt." If we're unhappy or unsatisfied with our own lives we try to get into other people's to make us feel better.

I think, in this era, to overcome the difficulties of globalization, people should cooperate, support each other ghiups. Both a horse sore ship off the grass. the world needs cooperation to build world peace.

it's intriguing to know about what other's people especially famous ones have done... out of curiosity i guess, as if just watching a news or event but on the contrary on a more personal level. it's information good or bad for us to analyze, have an opinion of, and probably give judgment, lol! gossip or not, it is there to provoke our interest...

I like watching those gossip shows about actors and actresses. Being stars , i look up to them for quality lives. So stories, about them having done this and that could very well be related to our lives. We enjoy hearing them, because it makes us realize they too have their shares of problems, not only us, common people.

Honestly, I'm not that kind of person who care much about others life. I don't even give time reading or watching showbiz articles, talking and chatting about other people or even manage to ask how their (friends, relatives, etc) lives get going. Well, maybe because, I believe people should respect each individuality. And so their privacy too. If a person really wants to talk about his life, then she/he will be the one who'll open it up and start it as a discussion to be talk about. We should not be prejudice. One of the reason why we end to judge a person by what he does is because we have too much interest about one's life. Insecurities also start when we start comparing ourselves to other's life. We should manage our own lives and let other's do the same. Happy mylotting. -zaga_cleuth-

I would agrue that this is the reminiscence of a part of our basic instinct to survival developed when we were first becoming human being like all of us today. The actual purpose was to observe how others are doing in order to learn from them so that we can improve our chance of survival. Now that we are modern human, we still are being drived by this instinct to look into others lives and finding it appealing and fasinating.
