off stressful things? I like to learn new things and read books or magazines to help me take my mind off stressful things.

Whenever I am stressed I either listen to inspirational music or read the bible. Because both always has something that speaks to me need and G♥d is good in showing me where..Praying for peace helps too, which I will pray for you, for there is nothing like being peaceful in the midst of a storm..:)

My husband and I are both the oldest (in his case oldest living) sibling. We don't have time to freak out. We're too busy. I like the music and dance ideas on here. You should check out the responses other people gave. You might find some really cool ideas for things to do becauses freak out. Thanks and take care.

You mean other than be online? I have been doing water exercise classes and walking on the treadmill. I also cook. We have some drama going on in our extended family, and I made three sisters soup yesterday. My version had my last butternut squash from last year's garden, and edamame for the beans, and about a half can of left over whole kernel corn. Garlic, of course and half a bag of frozen three peppers and onions. It looked really pretty. I cooked the squash in some broth from a chicken I had roasted. I freeze everything, you know. I only pureed part of the squash, so there were still cubes of squash in it. The pepper strips made it really look nice.

Oh, I wish I could go to water exercise class with you! Cooking is a wonderful stress reliever. Too bad I have fasting days coming up. Like they tell you not to eat before an operation. That sounds like an absolutely beautiful lookiing soup! How does it taste?

If I'm stressed, I tend to go to sleep

I do find that cross stitch takes enough of my attention that generally speaking I can't worry about anything but the pattern while I'm doing it

Yeah, me too, but I'd sleep my life away if I did that as much as I want to! Besides, now that I'm older, I can only sleep so much, then I'm awake when it's dark out. Maybe we both need new ideas for that. The music ones sound like an idea.

when I depressed,I always play the erhu ,which is a Chinese strings instrument with two strings. As early as song dynasty(960 A.D.-1279 A.D.)It has already come out.It sounds like human voice and is very expressive.I have played it on and off for more than 40 years. The moment I play it,I get into the ecstatic state and get depression and unhappiness off my chest.I find thatI benefit from playing the erhu all my life.

Whenever I am stressed I take a little pill called ativan :) lol. But also going for a little drive also helps out while listening to music and listening to music in general. It has to be something upbeat and/or inspiring though. A little mary-jane always helps relieve stress too ;)

Music and a little drive are good. We'd better both go before the cost goes up to $5 a gallon or more.

I do two things that work well for me. Am able to lay down and watch television and relax. Always fall asleep and when I wake up I feel brand new without any worries. Working on crafts also help me relax and focus on what I am currently doing instead of stressful issues.

Absolutely! I agree that books are a good way to go for taking your mind off something. Also, listening to music, coming on MyLot and venting about whatever is bothering you, seeing friends, going on a day-trip some place - those things all help me.

There are certain things that are stressful for me when things like that happen, I clean my house. Its a good thing for me to divert my mind of what I am thinking. Its difficult to eat when you are stressed out cause you will still be thinking about so many things.

I'm trying to have a more positive attitude toward cleaning. I'm trying to replace depressed because I'm cleaning to happiness when it's all cleaned. Wish me luck on that. Thanks and take care.

Thinking of my children has always motivated me and put me back into happy modes. Music can quickly also get me in the mood to sing, dance and be happy. Also thinking about the future on how I want to make it different usually puts in in a positive thinking mode as well.

I have no children and after that discussion about that thankless 30 something year old. . .. Makes me wonder what my kids would have been like. Probably like my cats. Music is great! Yeah, I think I'll sing and dance the night before everything so I'll be tired and sleep. That's a great idea. Yes, I have so many people to help in my future. I see a future of helping others. You and you're dancing girl are so adorable. Thanks and take care.

I like the music part. Right now, I'm not refreshed from naps. But maybe in the future. I used to be and I bet I will be soon again. Thanks and take care.

Hello there, If I feel stress, I stop for a while and think of happy thoughts. Anything that reminds me how lucky I am eventhough I'm in the midst of burden. And then I think of God. I know God loves me and I will surpass anything because He's guiding along the way....This way, I feel refreshed and renewed. I hope this works for you too, Have a blessed day! :)

Happy thoughts sound good! I'm on a beautiful island swimming or walking in my woods in a dryer part of the spring. Oh that was fun! Thanks, I just thought about and imagined God's love. Neat! It's working for now. You have a blessed day, too.
