i think alot of people are really missing the point of what mylot is about! i read so many new discussion which are pointless, one liners or are really not a diacussion at all! mylot isnt about how many posts you can do! its about starting a discussion that is worth talking about or getting advice from people who have gone threw what you are asking about. i'm not going to lie but yes when i 1st joined up to mylot i was thinking about earning but after a few days on here i couldnt careless about earning or posting pointless posts! i just enjoyed reading posts and replying to them and just being about to chat with other people who have gone threw the same has me. i have been using mylot for about 5months nows and i dont do posts every day but just when i have something worth while to post about! or if i see a post that i would like to respond to. for all those who think that doing pointless posts i dont think have read the f.a.q cos your post will just be deleted and you wont earn anything from it! your posts are about quality meaning that are really worth while and something you can discuss about with others. mylot really is a great place to meet new people share real thoughts and experiments and get advice from people. its not about how much you can make on here or who can post the most! cos you are not going to get rich from mylot sorry to say! am i the only one who feels like this about mylot or do any other mylotters share the same thoughts as me???

What about the idea of having both good conversation or discussion with other MyLot members and at the same time making a lot of posts so you are compensated by the next MyLot payday next month? Enjoying the goodness of both worlds?

what i mean by posting lots of post is the ones that are posting silly pointless posts. it is fine to post lots if there is meaning behind the post or it is really worth a dicussion.... do you know what i mean?

Ren, you are reinforcing what the site says, and what many more experienced users will tell you. You will earn for your participation on MyLot, but it is important to have fun and build relationships while you are doing that.

What really incensed me was seeing a newbie posting a pointless one-liner that was just stolen, word for word, from an article elsewhere on the net. Dipstick. Maybe ML has been promoting itself more, but just lately I notice a lot of newcomers (and some "old timers" too ) trying to drum up earnings and thinking "anything will do" - even plagiarized content. Don't they realize it's only when you DISCUSS things that you get paid?!

So, jazzsue, did you report the plagiarism to MyLot. I sure hope so. We really do not need that here.

i think alot of the newbies just start posting and not really reading what this site is really about. yes when i 1st came on here i too made mistakes but learnt very fast what this place is really for! i really do enjoy coming on here and reading and posting. i dont ways post and more offen then not i just enjoy reading most of the discussions and when i have wanted info about say a site i have also come on here to see if there is a post about it! but i guess the newbies will learn when every one of there oneliners or stolen posts get deleted when mylot update the site. maybe mylot should start getting more strick and blocking people that come on and post 100s pointless posts!

I agree that nobody is going to get rich from mylot so trying to post as many one line posts. There should be someway to show how much you earn from each post these would prove to these people that longer and higher quality posts earn you more money.

It's because some users here are so eager to earn they don't fun read the guidelines or just ignore it thinking they can get away with it. They forget that there are users here who are more than willing to report their pointless discussions.

I literally feel attacked because you are talking about my post! But I can care less! I didn't see anything wrong with posting what I was finally excited about, and honey I'm sorry to say, but everybody here knows that you can't get rich through mylot. I have other online sites which get me my few hundreds a month. And truth be told, you joined mylot because it pays so did everybody else. But later you want to say "oh its not all about the money" its about the friends and enjoying the community lol. I have friends, not looking to make friends online, far from what I'm doing her. I do enjoy the discussions here, and the money is a plus. Well at least you got your little rant out. BTW looking around i'm only only one who responded so I guess you are missing the point on what mylot is about too lol.

I felt this way, because I started a post saying "i finally got 1000 post" I was excited about this, i actually thought it through before I submitted the discussion. People here take mylot way to serious. If mylot is suppose to be "fun" and you are suppose to "make friends" let people start discussions on their opinion, it doesn't matter if you or anybody else think its pointless. who are you or anybody else to judge this? I've never just ranted on about somebody having a "stupid or pointless" discussion. If they don't know that facts about mylot or haven't read the FAQs leave that up to them. I don't know about you, but my time is too precious to go around to all the newbies saying "your post is in violation of mylot rules" I don't know if you do this, but i've seen this happen before.

I am going to be very careful here..and NOT trod on toes, because the nice thing about myLot is..YOU CAN discuss most anything...AND I am not judge and jury (admin is) and therefore I cannot say your discussion is pointless...as it may be very important to you! I may deem them pointless, but that is just MY opinion, and it may NOT be that of general consensus! Neither can I judge quality...as I don't have the right to set the bar! BUT, I do have the right to move on from those posts! I do concur, that I find it disconcerting, when I find senior members, here, responding/commencing discussions with one-liners, after they have been the one's to chagrin "newbies" like me...about doing that and pointing out the guide-lines to us! I rely on the senior members to set the examples.

I do fully understand what you are saying, and somewhat concur, and as far as I know those, that you referred to are poll discussions..and sooner or later they get deleted! The discussions that I find very taxing, are the one-liners with a link, that I have to watch! They are very time consuming (of which I have a little of) and normally at the end of the month, I find there is a feeding frenzy, as everyone attempts to make payout, with these kinds of discussions! At the end of this month, I was away for 3 days, only to come back to 3 pages of these kind of discussions by 4 persons, some senior, and now I just delete them, as I do not have time to watch 3 pages of links, to respond to a discussion. I feel your frustration..but scribe to your own guidelines..and ENJOY!

yes i get what you are saying and i am not trying to say that i am the judge about what i deem has pointless cos i do the same if i read a post the has nothing to do with me and i may thing is pointless so i do the same has you and move on cos i understand that post might mean something to the person who posted it. but what i mean by pointless posts are the ones say where someone has posted a discussion like - what do you like more nike or reebok- or something along those lines. now that is pointless really dont you think? its not really a great discussion! but that is what i am really talking about!

I almost never open a link because sometimes they come with hidden surprises, as well as being time consuming.

I totally agree with you when you say that people posts just to earn especially the one liners that they do. When I go on myLot I usually read and enjoy discussion without minding the amount I will be making or how much do I need to produce in order to get my payout. I enjoy reading and discussing topics just about anything instead of having to get a friend on the phone to chat with you. This is one way for me to relax and enjoy my day by reading posts by people and responding to it. Quality posts are my thing and when I do not find the discussion worth reading I just find another one worth my time to respond as well.

Hello ren, Yes, you are right. Some mylotters just start discussions for the sake of posting something. However, i doubt if they will ever be successful with their earnings, here. I joined this site, also because i wanted to earn and also because i wanted to see if this place was better than yahoo answers. I liked this place very much and i left the other site for good. I love to interact with people, love to discuss a few things and this place is the best.

I feel the same way. And like you, I also only thought of the earning potential when I first joined in. And what I discovered is that this place is not really about earning, but an exchange of ideas. The earning is just a bonus. But what I get here the most is validation. When I have an idea that I would like to put forth as a discussion topic. I can't help but feel validated with the responses of people that put in here.

When i started i was thinking about making money. However, after a few day i realized that you will not get rich from this site but is a way to get paid for your thoughts. With that in mind you will make little earning but gain more from people who may share your thoughts or disagree with your thought, but knowledge of who other people had learned and experience is priceless earnings.

I was so excited to find this site, especially because it paid you! But you're right, I think people worry too much about getting paid. Mylot is really an outlet for me; lets me vent and respond to other people. I've always liked discussions boards and to be part of a "community". It's nice to be paid, but I don't really care that much about the money. I'll be lucky if I can reach the minimum $10 in a month or two and thats just fine with me. I actually care more about getting a star next to my name because that's cool and shows you have a little status. But that's just me :)
