I noticed after I started doing online classes that my typing became faster and more accurate. I usually catch errors when they happen and backspace without even thinking about it. When I was in high school and took typing classes I was only able to type about 35 wpm, which was barely passing. Now it is closer to 45 and a lot more accurate. I think any time you practice something it becomes easier. And that is the nice thing about this, you type all the time and you are bound to improve!

I've been using the computer for 16 years now and I still remember the days when I first touched a computer. I was having a hard time looking for the letters. I was 7 then and I wasn't even accustomed to the typewriter that time. I would look for the letters one by one and use my index finger to press each key like my finger was the claw in a "UFO catcher" arcade machine. As time went by, I've improved so much that I can type without even looking at the keyboard. My average typing speed is 70 wpm. I did not learn touchtyping or anything, I just type and go about my way. I even landed a transcriptionist job a few years ago (involves typing). It really is surprising when we improve over time without even noticing it. Practice is the best thing when it comes to improving one's typing skills.

I was told how to type properly when I was younger, but I never got the hang of keeping my fingers in the proper place. Just tying more and more, it became more naturally. I tend to still look down at the keyboard, but its something i'm always working on. Practice make perfect.

well we have a typing subject in my grade school before i think that was the one that made me more proficient in typing. But ofcourse using the keyboard for years now also made me more proficient. I think practice is the best for this one.

Same with me whenever I type my eyes is fixed on the letters of the keyboard.I guess I'm improving now and its more faster than before.I was planning to take up lessons on typing to improve my skills better but at present I have no time for that so what I did was search for some tutorials here in the internet I hope I can find one.

I know they teach all students who are visually impaired how to type, so I've taken private typing lessons funded though the resource centre for the blind/deaf in our area, plus I took a typing course in high school. Needless to say I hated everything about computers growing up, but now looking back i'm glad they pushed it on me :-p I still don't like computers that much but I find it a necessity for earning money and keeping in contact with people. There is one thing that I'm having trouble with, is that is the numbers, I'm slower with that but I'm forcing myself not to look down at the keyboard for the numbers (I end up squinting my eyeballs out and it hurts!)

I'm not good in tying though, but I am quite fast...maybe it's because I'm not using the proper way too. I have been using the computer for 5 years now and I still don't know how to do typing the right way. I only get to use like, 4 or 5 of my fingers.

Well, before I first started to use the PC, I was already aware of how to use it because I can see people in the television using it. And I often look at my older sister while she was doing her schoolwork. I was amazed with how the letters popped out in the screen when she pressed the letters on the keyboard.:)) Moreover, my mom used to have a typewriter, and I was fond of playing with it. But,as time passed I began to type faster without looking at the keyboard. I've memorized the key placement. :)

Hi Himaniforio! Welcome to Mylot! Well we have a Typing subject in school before so I pretty much know what fingers should be on the keys. Over the years, I have developed my typing skills and I can now type fast without looking at the keys. With constant practice I think any one could do anything.

I took a keyboarding class in high school so I do the "professional" way of typing.i like it because i don't have to look at the keyboard. except for the numbers. can never remember the numbers for some reason. But ya i've seen people get really fast with 2 fingers. :)

I started learning how to type around the end of Elementary school. They had computer classes with fun typing games and such. At the time, I typed pretty slow, and thought I would never be able to type fast. Over the years I kept improving and increasing my typing speed. Owning a laptop without a number keypad has helped me to use the number keys up top easier also. My typing speed is now around 85 wpm. :D It's just sort of amazing when you're able to do something you never thought you'd be able to do. (:

I have never learned how to type fast. Because i work alot with computer and sometimes i have to type very fast. Usuallly when i type i normally don't look at the keyboard. It's just that i have used to type stuff and i know where all keys are pretty good :D
