Anna Hazare apparently achieved the goal he set for getting Lokpal Bill to be beneficial for the public at large. I wonder if it serves the purpose it is meant for. The committee comprising of 50 per cent government members defeats the object straight away, in my opinion. When the committee is like a censor board examining the actions of Government and its machinery, how can government have 50 per cent representation on the committee. At best government may be allowed the opportunity externally to defend. The committee should be independent totally and then only the guilty can be punished. If the government yielded on the issue, it is because of the proposed constitution of the committee. It remains well safeguarded.
