What are you reading?

When I was a little younger, I am not into reading because for me it looks kinda boring seeing books without images or pictures. Yes, I only grab a book and read back then when I like the images I have seen on that book. But as time passes by, I do appreciate and love to read especially interesting topics for me like business, arts, etc. So what topic do you usually read? how could this relates to you?

I'm into paranormal fiction. I also read crime and thriller books. :) As of now I'm currently reading the book two from The Vampire Chronicles which is "The Vampire Lestat" by Anne Rice. I like it how books take me to a state of conscious dreaming. I mean, my eyes are on the text but what I'm experiencing are those what's written on the pages. I was like watching a movie with my own characters, scenes, and all those stuff.

Aww I recalled a friend recommending Vampire Chronicles to me once.. Too bad I never had a chance to read it.. But isn't it amazing how a book with a well written story, full of only texts, can make images in your mind? It's like the author wants you to be immersed in his/her story but leaving it all to the reader's imagination. Usually that's what makes reading a book more interesting and a lot more fun than watching a movie version of it.

Yes indeed. Once I've been so indulged with a book that I want to think that it's real though it's not. It almost made me mad.

Haha..don't be mad.. Isn't that supposed to be what reading is all about? It lets you free your mind between the real and unreal. It just goes to show the author has indeed succeeded into taking the reader into the book's own world. Except the boring ones, of course.. But yeah, sometimes reality bites and the real world sucks..hahaha..

I too is not into reading book because it makes me drowsy and suddenly fall asleep.. hehe... I just open and read book when its exams because I have no choice, I have to, or else I will fail. But right now, I realized the importance of being a wide reader that's why I want to start reading books but I only read those with interesting topics.

Well that's a good start. Just try reading books with topics you are interested in, then I'm sure you'll find reading to be pleasurable just like any other activity. Once you get into the habit, other subjects will surely be easier to interest you. Except maybe the REALLY REALY boring ones.. Well, we all have our own tastes, and personally, I hate books about politics. Man, those stuff are boring!

hi keyform I am totally opposite I want fiction books with no pictures. I read for the story only. mary higgins clark, Stephen King, Agatha Christie Janet evanovich and many other mystery writers are my favorite writers. I read a lot as I would rather read or be on the computer than on the tv watching stupid sitboms. no wonder they call it the boob tube for it makes boobs out of intelligent people who sit all day mesmerized by stupid sit coms. y uck. I wou ld rather read a good book. I read mostly fiction.

I'm currently reading a Jim Cramer book. I also plan on reading "How to read a book." Yes, that's actually the title of the book. It seems interesting, and it goes through how to optimally go through a book and get as much from it ask possible.

I depends really on my mood. I grew up reading and I was immersed early in various topics. My home was already filled with books and I often pull books out because I wan to flip the pages. After that, when I learn to read, I actually made use of the numerous books for the first time. My favorites are often in the fiction category but I also often pick up books in the non-fiction side because I want to broaden my horizons and to improve my writing technique. As a romantic female, I have my share of romantic novels and chick literature. I also have my share of academic papers and books as well as popular literature. So it really depends on my mood and what interesting book I happen to find at the bookstore.

I started reading pocket books under Mills and Boon when I was in high School, books of Sidney Sheldon and Danielle Steel fascinated me most and just recently the books of Twilight Saga. And, I have no visit to the supermarket that I did not buy magazines. I really enjoy reading, it's part of my life.

Same here, I guess, when we are like those little kids, we fantasized with the colorful pictures and images so we can easily understand what the story tells us about. But as we grow older, we read because we are interested with the topic itself and no longer with the pictures. I always read the broadsheet and tabloid every morning and read pocketbooks and magazines on my free time.

I do love to read but I love to read magazines. Last year I realized that reading books will help me enhance my English Skills and will widen my vocabulary. I'm currently reading romance novel, Self-Esteem books and Motivational books.

I like reading non-fiction and news because it takes alot of time to read something (rather than watching) so that I'd feel I'm gaining something from it. I'd rather leave fictions to the movies.

I seem to read a lot of series. Every time I pick up a book from the library chances are that it belongs to a series. I'm a vampire girl so more often than not vampires are in the books I'm reading. I like horror and fantasy and sci fi too.

When I was in high school, I used to read a lot of fiction books. But as I grow older, my interest shift to other types of books and most of them were on educational matter. Now, that I do not go to school anymore, I still read books but most of them are about hobbies of mine. Lately, I have been reading on books about photography.

I read mainly fiction, namely high fantasy novels. I enjoy a lot of YA novels as well. Some of my favorite books are The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, The Dragon Keeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, The Legend of the Guardian-King by Karen Hancock, The Auralia Thread by Jeffery Overstreet, and The Magic Kingdom of Landover series by Terry Brooks. Recently I've been reading some non-fiction about dreams (the kind you have at night. lol), writing, and publishing.

Hi,keyform! Yeah,I wasn't a big fan of books either. But now I'm trying to read more books under the influence of some TV shows' characters like Gil Grisson in CSI(Las Vegas). The best way to enrich your knowledge is through reading. And also,we can learn something about how to be a true human being.Right now, with all those instant things, fewer and fewer people prefer to read. Not a good sign for human's elevation. Novels are usually my favorites.Right now,I am reading L.J.Smith's Vampire Diaries.I used to simply read the Chinese books or translated ones. Now I'm trying to read the original books since it improves my English. I also read some other books, yet novels and fictions are still my favorites. Have a good weekend!

I love to read! I never used to but somehow got into it about three years ago. I guess I started reading for some mind exercise but in the end it wound up being very relaxing. Now I love to read before bed. It takes my mind off of anything stressful and helps me to sleep better. Anyway, the best thing I have read recently is Hunger Games. I have only read the first one but can't wait to get the second one.

I remembered when I was a kid way back, I used to read comics a lot.. MOstly Marvel comics and some Archie. At first I thought of it as just a hobby and to pass the time. I really got addicted to reading and little did I know that while growing up those comics (which of course combines images and text) would help improve my reading and comprehension skills a lot, particularly in english. I live in a country where english is just a second language, so yeah, I could say I had an edge over my classmates in grade school way back then..hahaha.. Right now I usually have a habit of trying to finish a book a like in one sitting, even if it takes me all night (or morning). I like reading books of any subject, well except maybe the ones I find boring like novels and short stories. Those kinds just don't fit my tastes.
