stay.I do not really go much on facebook anymore, as there are people that are on there just to report back to other people, so the less these people know the better if you ask me.I can still leave messages on other peoples walls and do all the other things other than put a status up.I do not use face book that much so i am going to leave it just blocked, all people get to see is a few things that i like, as well as they can see i am female.

jugsjugs I too have not really used mine in so long. Although mine is set to private I don't even check it anymore. I really do not want to cancel my account but find it so unnecessary to see the amount of stuff that gets placed on my wall. I get all kinds of alerts on my phone and find I need a couple hours just to individually delete the nonsense I get. I am downgrading mine phone for other reasons so I won't be getting the fb alerts anymore but you have given me something to think about. I think I will do the same, because I have noticed getting things sent to me that seem odd. So I will go to my preferences and do the same. The way I see it is that anyone of importance that needs me knows exactly how to get a hold of me so I think what you did is wise and I will be doing the same.

I don't have anything much in my facebook account as well. All my friends get to see is my basic profile, my name, gender and birth date. That's about all. I don't update my status about anything because i don't see the need to anyway. I don't upload any photos as well, so there's nothing to comment or tagged too. IF i have something to share, i will write in my blog than posting on facebook.

I can relate to your sentiments, jugs. There's so much talk about and in facebook and more. What I don't understand is making public even the most private emotions and sentiments. My confusion in this probably stems from me being a private person. I have a facebook account but I use it only to receive messages and photos from relatives. As someone said, simply a lurker.

when we have facebook, everyone is crazy to try out new things. soon, there are loads of people from all over the world and they get connected. well, there is good and bad. the good ones, u got to know about other people's lifes and friends from highschool. the bad one is, those rivals from schools, works, they continue to be a pain in the a$$. they never change. so, they pisses you off. there are good and bad in everything. :)

I've also temporary blocked my wall after friends did post only garbage on my wall. Like they had answered questions about me, without saying anything nice of concern or interest about what's going on in ones life. I had a life before I joined Facebook. When I logged in online there were always people wanting to talk to me for THEIR pleasure. I have stopped doing it be cause I felt drained out. I go into Facebook being offline. I post what I want and give comments. The same goes for here on mylot where you can choose to write when you want. You are not stuck chatting with people. I've learnt new knowledge since I joined mylot in a positive way.

I know a few people like that, and I miss being able to put stuff up on their walls. As for myself, I don't put gossip about myself up there. I know that what I put on Facebook may be mentioned to someone else. Besides, I'm connected to 90% of my family anyway, so nothing's going to be kept secret.

That is the same way with me. I have a Facebook page also. I only joined it because a friend of mine wanted me to. I do not want the whole world to know my business either so I do not post there either.

I don't blame you but at the same time...why not just delete it? I have one only cause of family...and htey don't really even do much with it. But I have seen to many arguments and bickering done on FB between people and is it disgusting. I have 3 family members I don't allow as friends as that is basically what they do...just stir up trouble! I keep it to see what others are doing, and might comment here and there but definately, don't post what I don't want EVERYONE to know, and don't post anything anyone might what to start arguing about.

You might just as well totally deactivate, jugs. I did and haven't regretted it one bit. I don't think I'm missing a thing given all of the hijinks that are going on over there now. I now spend most of my computer time here on myLot and feel that I'm using that time much more wisely now.

That is sad that you feel a need to hide your information like this. I use Facebook everyday and have had no problems on it at all. I get my daily astrology, play games, see how people I know are doing, etc. I have never had anybody being weird on there at all. Sad to hear that others do.

Hi jugsjugs, I am always on facebook and i am addicted to it which is not a good thing. I am always adding people and playing farm ville there. So i made two face book accounts. One to play games and other my real one where only close friends are allowed. But still i feel if you call someone friend then you should not allow them to see your wall but also leave a comment or two there. So either dont add people, but if you do then add them with full benefits

Facebook does give us an opportunity to have a peek into the lives of others (specially friends and family) since it is not possible to interact with them the way one would want to.Whatever we see there is not something that would be private. I had my wall open for all but have now restricted it to only friends but sometimes I feel I should let the whole world see the photographs that I upload which are mostly of my garden which also showcases my capability as a photographer!

Hi,jugsjugs! Yeah,I don't go to Facebook often either.I just let it be there and sometimes when I need to use it,I log in.It's more about my extent of my social circle than my interest in social networking sites that makes me feel lazy logging in.I just don't have many friends on it since my friends in China usually use Renren and Facebook is blocked here.Yeah,I said it,I use proxy servers. So I guess unless I get to know enough people who use Facebook,it will still remain one of the sites that I don't pay much attention to.

I finally joined Facebook, but it was because I am taking part in a promotional campaign and I had to post about it on Facebook. Well, I had to join to do that. I have not really gone there otherwise, but someone or something on my email account keeps inviting friends. I even have people invited that I did not know I know. Weird.

This is the reason why we can change things in out account to suit each of us. Some people like to put all their business on FB and others don't put anything. After a little bit of a problem, I blocked my MIL from seeing my status, my pictures...everything. It is nice that we have the option of doing this.

That sounds like a good idea. I deleted my old account due to family drama. Just around the time my boyfriend decided to set up himself an account. But, funny thing is his Mommy is telling him I did that to try to hide something from him. WHAT???? Grr. I'm about ready to delete my account all over again because his niece keeps trying to hook him up with other girls through facebook. And if he really loves me as much as he claims he does then he is just too dense and stupid to realize what is going on.
