usually most people are stucked with 2 indusries, Hollywood and the local movie industry of their country, but if your American, Most likely you are stuck with Hollywood and occasionally watched some Hong Kong movie. for some unknown reason, I'm startign to crave something new, There are some people out there who just wait for European and Asian movies to be remaked in Hollywood before watchign it but in my case, I think I want to be outside of the box. The local cinema in my country is divided into two, Mainstream and Indie, Most mainstream movies in my country are usually romantic comedies and comedies, occasionally there is horror but romance movies are the number 1, so its not my cup of tea though my girlfriend, mother, sister, aunts, female cousins, female friends, apartment land lady and maid loves them. The indie cinema in my country are usually art films, Poverty themed films and gay themed films. Not my cup of tea either..... Hollywood movies , I got sick of them because of the remakes, and crappy adaptations of other media, but I still watch the original movies but I hate adaptations and remakes. Currently I am enjoying Japanese cinema, Hong martial arts movies and some European movies. I also try watching movies from countries I'm not ware of. I just want to know, Am I the only person here who watches movies beyond Hollywood and local industry? I know many people dont like foreign movies just because they hate reading subtitles..... what are you favorite non Hollywood foreign cinema?

Hi Albert, I had my movie world opened up a few years back when I gave foreign movies a chance. I know a lot of people despise subtitles but I have no idea why. I think a dubbed movie loses a lot in translation. I watch and seek out movies from all around the world and there are some great little gems there and as you know so great that Hollywood wants to get their hands on them all and in most cases ruin them. I know you are a big Horror and Sci Fi fan, if you want some recommendations especially form Europe let me know. I am always looking for mostly horror movies or Sci Fi form around the world and if you have any feel free to share.

I would like to see some sci-fi or horror recommendations from Europe, I just watched the Russian movie Nightwatch (its dubbed in English) and its an awesome. I think ruining masterpieces by remakes and bad adaptations is what ruins Hollywood. it really makes me wish a new movie industry will dominate out of the blue.

British horror movies are starting to be better than Japanese horror movies, so they are most likely to be a must watch for me. Wasnt Rec the movie Quarantine is based from? I get to watch the first Rec.. I will try to wiki all these movies and find copies to various sources.... oh a time travel movie.... I love time travel themed stuff.

I always loved British Horror since the Hammer days and Britain are pumping out some great ones to this day. Yep Quarantine was the remake of Rec. Quarantine 2 is going to deviate from the story line of Rec 2 but it should be interesting what they do with it. There are two more movies coming up from the original, REC Genesis and REC Apocalipsis should be lots of back story in there. If you like time Travel and foreign movies then Timecrimes is the one to watch, it is low budget but it makes you think. I will pm you if you are interested.

I was able to watched some great Chinese movies, though its weird many people from China hates their local industry, but its seemed to be normal for many people to hate their own local cinema, There use to be copy movies in my country too. They kinda stopped now but most movies in my country were marketed to women.

MOvies are great to numb or excite your senses - Too much movies cause dumbness
Movies are nice to relax and shock the senses, however they are many movies production beside Hollywood USA, as they are other cultural movies like asian, korea, middle east, china and such which give a great view of different culture and things that happening in that part of the world.Look Millionaire SlumDog and others movies that are non hollywood.I usually watched various non hollywood movies from french, asia, middle east and such.

Slum dog movie is a great movie, i remember how it affected me while watching. The ending make a big guy like me almost cry. I think it opened people to watch Indian movies.

Surely Brazil's, I think they are growing even in a scarring way. In Noss Lar I was really surprised now they have Hollywood graphics and don't loose for them as the movie became JUST LIKE the book!

Hey!! So right, I am tired of some of the remakes in the crappy land of Hollywood, more like crappy Hollywood--is like they ran out of ideas or something When I was growing up my brothers used to idolized Bruce Lee and watch some of his movies. I know he was a Chinese American but there was something unique about his movies. I am Spanish, remember, so I have seen some Mexican films, some of them were very good, but I am such a sucker for Hollywood especial effects, and the Mexican industry lacks some of the effects. But than again, it depends some movies are way better the old fashion way. I think I have seen some Japanese version of the grudge, unless I am wrong....

I think i'm still open to Hollywood as long as its not a remake or a white wash adaptation. I had never seen Mexican movies before but Mexican shows are still being aired in my country, so i'm familiar with some actresses and actors. I was amazed with he depth of European cinema, French, Dutch and British movies are interesting. the coolness of Japanese cinema and I just found out that Iranian cinema is actually great despite of the limitations they get. I had seen many Chinese movies, usually i prefer the action movies from Hong Kong not from the Mainland China.... I get to seem some Korean movies, they were good with comedies.
