Why doesn't india have a genuine pace bowler?

As to my knowledge india only had medium pacers or even slower pace bowlers.Zaheer khan is a medium pacer for sure because he cant bowl about 140kph. In the past also our fast bowlers were way too slow..such as venkatesh prasad who bowls at 125kph..even today's irfan pathan bowls at around 120kph,which made him a worthless bowler, because he can only swing the ball.Praveen kumar bowls at speeds below 125kph.These bowlers are not going to trouble the batsman in a batting friendly wicket.Sometimes sheer pace can do the trick for the bowler. I know pace bowlers can also get hit but once they get momentum they just destroy the batting side.

Hi, That India is weak in the bowling department is a well known fact. Though the World Cup came to India two times the credit specially goes to the batting line. This is not so necessary that you need to have pace bowler like Styn. Even if you have medium pacer like Zahir Khan and maintain line length its ok. But that does not happen always. Now India would surely try to develop the drawbacks in the bowling department.

actually sreesanth bowls at around 140kph but he is kinda useless according to me.If zaheer khan could bowl at around 145s then we could say that we have a genuine pacer.

that's a big question for me also.in pakistan team there are many bowlers who can go over 140 kph.but in india there aren't many and even if they bowl over 140 at the start of their career that will decrease pretty soon, because that's what happened in the past.hope it changes in future.

I think the main reason for India lacking a genuine fast bowler is the conditions in our country which favours the swing bowlers and the spinners. As there is no help for the fast bowlers they go for runs in their early days and hence tend to reduce their pace and try to be accurate. Its also the reason why the Aussies and The Proteas always have a quiver full of fast bowlers. In an Indian pitch an 148Kph ball will reach the batsmen in and around say 105-110 Kph which can be easily despatched, while the same ball can will come to the batsmen at 130kph and hence troubling him.But hats off to the Pakistanis ,how they manage its a mystery probably it has something to do with they practicing in balls made up of tubes.

I Personally think that Indian pitches mostly support spin bowlers. As a Result the spin bowlers in India are good. And more people practice to bowl spin bowling. The pitch which supports spin mostly so they take more wickets.Indian pitches are slow when we compared to pitches in Australia,England,South Africa etc...so it does not support fast bowling.Rather to try the fast bowling with greater pace which is difficult in India it is good to bowl fast medium pace with greater brilliance like Zaheer Khan,Praveen Kumar etc...
