Popularly known by texters as GM – is very common especially among the teenagers. They usually send GM to their close friends or to their peers. It’s like posting their status updates on Facebook, Twitter, or the like. Since they have subscribed to unlimited text promos (also known as ‘unlitext’), they don’t tend to bother how much text messages they have already sent. Others even send nonsense messages just to make the most of the unlitext. I always received messages like these among my friends. I even join their GM sometimes when I’m on a good mood. It could be fun but some messages tend to get me irritated. Just like the other day, I receive a GM message. The text was only about her eating lunch. I don’t think you have to announce everything you are doing to everyone by GM. It’s also kind of bothering that I have to go and check my mobile phone from time to time thinking that I have received an urgent message that needs my attention but finding out that it’s not. On the other hand, there are also times that I appreciate GMs. Like there’s someone texting you early in the morning and greets you “Good Morning! Hope you have a great ahead. Take care!” It feels good knowing that somebody seems to remember you the moment he/she wakes up. There are also times that a GM could be very useful. When I need to inform everyone about an upcoming activity, I don’t have to giveaway flyers or put posters anymore. I just GM it and everyone will relay the message for me. It saves a lot of my time & energy. How about you, what are your experiences on GMs? What do you think about them?

I think one factor that creates a good GM is the people that is in it. I don't necessarily belong to the genre of having GMs with friends because we're all mostly busy and don't really have anything in common to talk about (well maybe a few people but not all at the same time) and I guess we're all in the age when you don't really need to talk to them everyday to let them know you're friends. hehehe.. Anyhow, I do have an experience with GMs once because my brother lost his cellphone and was using mine for a while. Well, he'd use my phone during night times because our rooms was just close by and I don't usually use my phone anymore at night because I'd be using my pc or laptop more. Anyhow, I came to notice GMs as annoying because it seems that there are people who obviously have nothing good to do and even if they're just going to the bathroom or is bored, they'd need to announce it to friends. Which is actually annoying because you'd think that someone wants to say something important then all you get are these nonsense messages. Just like how it is in Facebook these days. People just always look for a way to be noticed and it seems they want to announce every step they do and hope that the public would react to whatever they say to the point of being annoying because of such a fuss. What's bad about it is the fact that you can't ignore the person in GM when you can in Facebook. Which is why, I'm thankful that my brother has a phone now and I could rest from all the GMs! by the way, obviously he's not too happy about those things as well too because he'd usually just leave his phone in his room or somewhere or keep it in silent mode because of a lot of annoying GMs.

I agree, it’s hard to ignore a GM because whether you like it or not, you have to check your phone because the message might have been an important message. I also have friends that don’t have to talk with often. And they’ve been my good friends for years. It’s usually the young teens that often send GMs to me. I’ve told them not to include me in their GMs but sometimes they forget and still send some of the messages to me.

i hate doing this stuffs... i'm just texting with someone i need to text and not to tell it to the entire list on my contacts... plus some GMs are quotes, and too bad i don't keep quotes on my phone and i don't intent to read quote messages i instantly delete it, what i really hate in GM is the chain messages, i don't read it and delete it too at once it's just a waste of time and effort.... but for those who are doing this i respect you and i don't intent to offend your feelings this is only for my opinion

I don’t like to keep quotes too. I also hate chain messages which sometimes can be offensive. Like the one where you are required to pass it to a certain number of people or else a love one will die. HATE IT! Why do they have to threaten you just to pass a stupid message…?

Receiving GM's irritated me, just like you. I mean who cares of what they are actually doing or going to do. It's none of my business anyway and it's a waste of time reading their messages wherein you don't have anything to do about it. I don't usually send messages in group. I can only appreciate GM's if it's useful. like when my classmates gm me if we don't have class on a certain subject, that kind of things..

lolz… I understand how you feel. It is really bothering reading your cellphone only for nonsense messages.
