Now today about 101 countries of the World are Officially playing Cricket and Since Cricket was already included once in 1900 in Olympics, I think it should be considered again to be reintroduced in Olympics! Looking at the popularity and the revenue generated because of this sport, it is high time now that this sport should be included in the Olympics. The electronic media has become a powerful tool today and it is playing major role in promoting this sport and revenue earning for the organisers, so why not to take the advantage of situation and introduce this sport in the Olympics to make it reach to the parts of the World where it is not being played presently? Please give your valuable opinion about this and Oblige! Your opinion will be highly appreciated!

Yes, the inclusion of cricket in the Olympic should have done long back. It is such a nice game. Why it is not getting priority ? Is it only because only few nations play the game ? It is a huge fan based game. BCCI can use their strength and ICC can help it to propose the matter. They can make it for the 2016 Olympic if they can manage the Olympic official. There's anything to object against the game's inclusion in the Olympic.

Hi Dear Rafaelnadal! I agree with your views that Cricket should have been added to the list of Olympic games long back! At least now with the popularity what it is enjoying through out the World, it is the proper time that ICC should approach the Olympics committee for this games inclusion in the Olympics! The Statistics of the IPL Tournaments only should suffice to prove the popularity and commercial gain one can have from this event! If some one genuinely interested in taking the game to Olympics should approach the appropriate authorities to get the sport to be added in the Olympics List! Since the preparations and finalisation of the events etc for the year 2016 have already been finalised in 2007, we can try to incorporate this sport in 2020 Olympics if ICC initiates the issue! Thanks for responding!

Oh Yes, dear Rafelnadal! If ICC takes an initiative either all by itself or under the pressure of BCCI and if Cricket is added in the list of Olympic games, then we have bright chances of getting a Gold in this sport! I think this is appropriate time when this game should be added in the list! Thanks !

Yes, ICC must do it if they really wants. Actually the ICC panel is lazy and wants to earn by sitting only. They only do some jobs which are either unavoidable or some pressures are there behind it. BCCI can pressure ICC for inclusion of cricket in Olympic. It can earn India another GOLD medal. What do you say ?

Hmmm...Cricket already plays for world cup so I guess whether or not it appears in Olympics or not it would not make any difference. I believe world cup and olympics probably would be at the same level. In Olympics the players compete against different countries around the world and similarly in world cup the team competes against other teams around the world, same difference isn't it.

Hi Dear Tiwari! Yes, in a way you are right in World Cup also all the Nations from the World is is participating and the Champion is selected from that, which may be similar in the Olympics, but then participating in Olympics and getting Championship in Olympics would be some thing very different than participating in the World Cup as here the players would be just be playing for the country and hopefully there won't be any commercial aspect attached to it! And there are many games which have World championships but still are included in the Olympics! Well at the end, I must say that you have a point there! Thanks for responding!

Dear Tiwari, You are forgetting the big fat packet the players getting apart from getting free stuff to wear! They are getting this packet just to wear the stuff! That is where the commercial aspect of the game takes the toll of the sport or the players! Thanks!

Hi Dear Tiwari! I am really sorry to know about your brother and his accident! Hope by the grace of God he must be Okay now and I sincerely wish him all the best! I agree with you, the players on the ground are always with risk! And in the eventuality of Injuries it is only this sponsored money that comes to the rescue of the players! Otherwise also players have too short life to play big games, there are several factors like form, fitness ,age, etc which may play major role in selection procedure to represent the country where there is actual money! Thanks for responding!

I think this has been something that ICC has been looking to for some time. With the T20 format the possibility of inclusion of cricket in game events such as Olympics and Asiad is definitely a possibility. Unfortunately, BCCI and other boards look at these games in a different light as they do not get the money that they are looking for in such events like what they did for the CWG games where they did not send the cricket team!! Cheers! Ram

You are absolutely right dear Ram! The BCCI was one of the agent who has shown reluctance in including Cricket in the Common Wealth games! Unfortunately the taste what they have got in the form of money has changed he attitude towards this game by BCCI and now instead of promoting this game across the World, this body is always trying to find new ways of making money out of it! IPL is one of such brain child of theirs! Well with the sincere efforts of ICCI , I think now this is high time that this game should be added in Olympics once again and I am sure with in few years many teams will be seen in the event with their strong teams fighting for the Gold! Thanks dear friend for rsponding!

I agree strongly. If there are athletes to compete in the sport, then it should be introduced. I also think other sports should be introduced - Sumo and Karate.

Hi Dear Alechin! You are right, when there are so many sports included why not Cricket, by introducing such new sports in the Olympics we are giving opportunities to the Nations which don't play Cricket presently to learn the sport and participate in the future events of Olympics to make it more popular! This is on of the way the sports can be made popular on international Platform may it be Cricket, Sumo or Karate! Thanks for responding!

Hi Dear Arunthampy! Yes BCCI takes an initiative to motivate in this direction, hopefully this game can be added in the Olympics! Though there may be many countries which don't play cricket and they may not be familiar with the rules of the game! But but with the internet available today everywhere in the World it won't be a bog problem for the people to understand and follow the game within no time! Thanks for responding!

Hello Dear Ckrisasa! Cricket in any form included in the Olympics will be a great thing for the game of cricket! I agree with you that including test Cricket n the Olympics is not a feasible thing and One day Cricket can be included in it! But 20-20 seems to be most appropriate format as it requires less time and there is lot of thrill in the game! By adding this format of Cricket in the Olympics we may have lot of new fan following of this game from all over the World and Cricket will star enjoying the status of Real International game! Many reputed countries like US, japan,China and all other countries where Cricket is not played currently can take part in the event and take it to the International platform! Thanks for the response!

Olympics are supposed to be for the glory of individual achievements in various talents symbolised by the 5 circles. All the same several games like football, hockey etc. have become part of the contest to ascertain the supremacy of teams. Cricket on the other hand though popular in a few countries is more like entertainer and converted in recent times into commercial activity. It has been transformed from test form into shorter versions and also experiments are on to change the team strength. I personally do not think that this game can qualify as one to be included in olympics.

Hi Dear Hanuma! Though it is supposed to be glorify the individual achievements in various fields, The olympics have already have added various team events like Hockey, foot ball etc. Now I think the Cricket has got lot of popularity because ofthe electronic media and the commercial aspect attached to this sport makes this game a popular game which definitely can be incorporated in the Olympics! When the games like Golf, baseball, softball etc can be added in Olympics, why not the Cricket? In 2007 the above said sports have been accommodated in the Olympics 2016 ! Thus in my opinion if ICC takes an initiative then this sport is having good scope to be included in the Olympics! Thanks for responding!

If its twenty 20 format then it should be, if one day format then it should not be as It is very time consuming.

Hi Dear Jagjit! Yes since time would be a big drawback with this sport, the test format and one day format can't be introduced in the Olympics! However since 20-20 has gained a lot of popularity and this game involves lot of action and speed this format will definitely be appreciated by one and all once the spectators get the hang of this sport! Thanks for responding!

Hi Dear Stylewaves! Yes, indeed to initiate anything new there is initial opposition any where and in any field may it be a sport or anything else! What all we need here is the ICC should convince about the popularity of the game and the commercial prospects to the Olympics committee and let the committee after thorough investigations and scrutiny can finalise about inclusion of this sport into the Olympic list! The bid for Summer Olympics 2016 was held in 2007, which means that the things have to be planned well in advance to get the thing implemented on the time! I think this is the proper time to initiate the issue so that in coming years we can see cricket being played in the Olympics! Thanks for the response!

Hi akrao, I agree with you cricket has been too popular a game now that it is high time it is included as one of the Olympic sports. It has already been included in Asiad last year as demonstration sport and would be included in future Asiads as regular sport. One disadvantage earlier which was going against the sport to be included in the meets like Olympics was that it consumed lot of time and completion of sport within stipulated time was a problem. Now that there is 20-20 version of the game which can be completed in reasonable amount of time. Sport is also getting increasingly getting popular in traditionally non cricket playing countries like China, America, Canada etc.

Hi Dear msdivkar! Yes,having introduced Cricket in Asiad on trial basis and found it quite satisfactory it as been decided to incorporate in the Asiad for ever as a regular sport! Now since 20 - 20 game of Cricket has achieved popularity and it has become an action packed game, it won't take much time to get popularity in the public! By introducing this game the time factor can be reduced to an considerable extent! Yes, today because of electronic media the Cricket is gaining popularity in many such countries where this game was not played traditionally, which shows that people will accept this game once they get the hang of it! Thanks for responding!

Cricket is the most important game in the Asian Sub continent. The Cricket world cup is one of the biggest events that includes many countries from across the world. Cricket tournaments have record viewership on various channels. It should now be included in the Olympics. Now we have so many versions of the game - the 50 over one day matches and the 20-20 version. They can any one of these in the Olympics or even both of them like in Tennis. But finishing all the matches in time with both the versions may be a problem. They better include cricket in the Olympics now.

Hi Dear Sid! Yes, today Cricket is one of the important game in almost all common wealth countries and it is popular in some non common Wealth countries too! Because of the popularity of the game and advancement of the electronic mass media it has gained the commercial importance too! Thus with so many countries playing this sport and carrying so much of popularity , any of the version of this game can be added in the Olympics! I think this is the proper time that ICC should take the initiative and should see to it that the popular sport be introduced in the Olympics at the earliest! Thanks for the response!
