Undoubtedly it is the Sun. The planets which are primarily in 9 in numbers are revolving around it which includes our earth also. Now scientists have discovered 3 more planets and they are going to update the number to 12, if the new discovered planets are given the status of Planets by the panel of Scientists representing the world as a whole. Moon as I have seen some one responded as the star is not a star at all it is a Heavenly body revolving around the earth and it is a satellite nd even the light emiited by it is the just reflection of sunlight. Moon is not a star! Well the other nearest star is Cetntauri System agroup of three stars !

well, except for the sun the nearest to the earth is the star system known as Alpha Centauri. actually it is a three star system with Alpha Centaurus A, Alpha Centaurus B and Proxima Centauri (which is the nearest of all three)
