Saurav Ganguly's fate

India

Hello, here I would like to share something interesting. There is a rumour that our former captain Saurav Ganguly may get a chance if Kochi lost Mahela Jayawardhane for his country from 5th May. It was known to all that Sri Lankan players won't be available from 22nd May, 2011. But for some issues their board has called them from 5th May, 2011. Ganguly was a great fighter and the number of times he got out, he proved himself eligible for the squad. But IPL is different and here franchise's wish matters and even coach of the team. He went unsold in the auction which seemed his career is end at last. But luckily he got a deem hope. Will Kochi really take him ? Will we able to see Saurav again in IPL ? I am sure if he gets chance he will not frustuate his team. Lets see.

Yes, humilation is not wanted anymore. I hope KTK will surely take him and no objection will come from other teams, boards and committee.

I heard the news as well and after some follow up got to know that this is not a rumour. However none of the parties have made any announcements.Dada is most likely to replace injured steven smith. As Jayawardene would be leaving for national duties on 5th May,it is very likely that Dada may be captaining the side.Dada has a point to proove and the dada I know will definitely put a fighting srong statement.

Yes, it is not a rumour any more. But it is a happy news. But the fact is whether Kochi surely take him or not. Why didn't they pick him in the auction ?

I would be surprised if Ganguly turns out for Kochi. Having said that if he does, it would actually be good for the Kochi team as this is one team that needs a captain like him. They have a good team, but the results have not really gone their way except for the last match which they won chasing. Cheers! Ram

Hi, I feel that Kochi would be successful under his captaincy. He is a very good captain. Even, I would say he is the best captain for Indian Cricket Team next to Kapil dev. Aside to all cricket jokes, funny comments about him, We should never forget that he captained our team well. I could still see him as a captain who took us to the finals of 2003 world cup final against Aussie after 20 years. If we've had won, he would have been considered the best of all captains. Anyway, Cricket is a funny and unexpected game. I expected 2003 world cup would be ours but never happened and but I never expected 2011 world cup is ours but we won the world cup. Anyway, DADA is still one of the important cricketers and I would like to see him play again.

You are right. There is nothing to be unsuccessful under his captaincy. Last time he himself played well but his teammates couldn't perform much. Cricket is a team game so his lone performance couldn't make semis but I think he can guide KTK to semi as they are a new team in IPL along with Pune with some new cricketers too.

hi friend DADA is my favourite cricketer and he has proved himself so much time that he now does not need to prove himself.after the chappel issue he make a grand comeback and showed what he is.he made 50 almost in every match after he came back.even in ipl he was the most important player who made runs, the problem was that other players did not play well.and ipl is the different thing the franchise have to think long because they have to spend crores of rupees and the contract is for 3 years and they also have to keep players age in mind also and if he will be able to perform after three years or not?so saurav does not fulfill this criteria and yes i agree with you that we can tell him unfortunate as he lost some opportunites to play in ipl,but i think it should not bother him or his fans.

Yes, he is a great comeback man. The no of times he made comeback has set a new record. His determination is a great assest for him. Whatever I would like to see him playing well against the other IPL teams specially against KKR in Eden. What do you say ?

I dont think it is going to be so. According to the ipl rules any team can include an unsold player only if the other teams dont object. Galguly is a great great player and the is a way set on a winning track, so it is quite sure that the other teams would have an objection.

Yes, the other teams may object like they did while Pune Warriors India wanted him after the auction. But if no one objects then he may get the chance. I think there won't be any objection from the other teams and there is no rules that can prevent Kochi to take him this time. Lets see
