When I was in High school, I had lots of insecurities like my height. I'm only 4 feet and 9 inches. My parents also were fond of comparing my capacity to our neighbors that made more insecure and felt so little. They said that they were better than me. Those insecurities led me to easily get irritated and rebellious. When I was in college, I was able to overcome my insecurities because of my friends who were there for me and gave me good advices. Because of them, I became more closer to Jesus. I really felt fortunate during my college years because almost of my teachers inspired me to be matured and to hold on to God no matter what happens. If we have an intimate relationship with God there is a feeling of security. Another way of overcoming insecurity is to accept ones failures, weaknesses and shortcomings. And above all understand and forgive those persons who were instrument of your insecurity. How about you?

Thankfully my mother was a very strong supporter, I grew up thinking I was the best!!! I was popular in elementary to high school and was very confident...but when I was in college I met people who I thought was better than me, and that was an eye opener, for the first time I felt what it was like to be insecure...but my mother (I can tell her all my problems, well maybe except those concerning boys) helped me again by telling me that there would always be people who will be smarter or prettier but I should know that no one is better than anyone...I'm no better than them, they're no better than me...so now I have a healthy confidence, I don't look down upon anyone but I believe in myself...

I also have some insecurities before, and it's a very hard battle. I think when you're insecure, your greatest enemy is yourself. Why? because you don't trust yourself and you don't have much faith in you. Like what you've said, we need to be close to God in dealing with this. By then, having a big faith in God also comes faith in oneself... Believing that God loves you is a great feeling that makes you start loving yourself too!
