We reveal a lot here.

Hi friends! While participating in discussions we reveal a lot about ourselves. If you look at closely at any user’s pattern of responses, you could make out what s/he likes or dislikes and how s/he actually is in his/her real life. Whenever we start a new post or respond/comment our basic nature also subconsciously gets reflected the way we express ourselves. Those users who think that they will remain an enigma and would be able to maintain their anonymity may not be able to remain under the veil, as much as they think, if they regularly come for mylotting. I am also not an exception and whenever I write a response, I consciously or subconsciously disclose many of my traits. Would you agree with me or you have different opinion than mine? PS - The topic is general in nature and my humble request is none of the users/my friends here should not take it otherwise or think that it has been drafted keeping him/her in mind.

Hi dpk Again, there are two types of Lotters as you must have observed during you stay here - One who arrive here for a shorter time, do tasks, make money and quit and those who stay here for long. Those who are here for Money only and stay around for shorter duration, they can have the liberty of hiding themselves, putting on a mask and showing what they are not in the real world... For those who have been here for a while, and plan to stay longer, they are more open and more expressive. They reflect their own self here too. Reason is simple - We cannot keep on lying and fooling around people if we are sure and certain, that eact day when we wake up, we would see the same faces... Starting with a lie or the deception is always a NO when it comes to relations and friends. Cheers for Friendship.... The way it should be and is

Hi Thesids! Our dear friend Jaiho has already given you a THUMPS UP before I could post my comments. and I would also say so. You have pointed out rightly that there are some users who are temporary here and vanish like thin air once their purpose is served. However, long term users, if they are observed closely, reveal many things about them and we (including I) would make friends with those who are consistent here. Thanks for sharing your wonderful views.

Hello Deepak, Yes I agree, we are sharing many things here in mylot with friends. We can easily find out those members who are giving false details in their profile. I have gone through such funny experiences many times. Somebody’s age (in profile) shows less than the actual one, the person reveals the right age in his/her topic (unknowingly). Another one blames people to hiding their age, the same person given false information about his/her age in profile and reveals the right age in discussion (here the profile age was above 50 but real age was below 25). For me, I have given right information and nobody can catch me like that way. If I want to hide something it will be like that. I mean, I won’t reveal those things I don’t want to reveal. I think many people are like that only. We may get an idea about them from their responses but understanding them closely, it is difficult. However, some members are revealing everything and they are just like an open book.

Hello Sree! Many thanks for agreeing with me and I know it for sure that you 'observe' others more closely than me.. You are a keen observer and if someone is making false claims or giving incorrect information, you can come to know about the real him/her. And those who are inconsistent here could be caught easily. You see as regards 'understanding' the real person, it is always a difficult proposition. Even in our real lives we can not 'understand' many of those who are closer to us.

Hi Jennyze! I am trying to 'know' the real you because we have become friends only recently and we have just started 'interaction'. Please allow me some more time before I could tell you what you actually are, provided you remain in touch with me.. You see on a serious note - if we are honest here in our responses/comments we reveal how we are in our real life - whether we are witty, funny or serious or frindly/coordial or otherwise. As regards your point that some of the users will write a very good response for the sake of it, I partially agree with you because they could do like it on few occasions but not everytime. Does I make sense?

Hi dpk I can only speak of myself as to how I write and only speculate about what others write. For me I type exactly the way I think. I have to say that although I am a very private person, here on the Lot I tend to reveal a bit more then I am accustomed to offline. Perhaps because I can relate to a great many discussions. I tend to feel that because I have lived a life, I can related to so many here. Kind of the saying Been there, done that. I always enter discussions with the mindset that behind each and every picture/avatar there is a human being. Therefore, when I am applying my response I tend to always put myself in that persons shoes. In my Profile I have listed: [i]

Yes, i totally agree with you. Whatever we share here reveals a part of us actually. We relate to experiences, which we ourselves had experienced and is experiencing. We share our likes and dislikes and sometimes we rant of what we adversely feel. A lot of ourselves is really revealed. Well, i guess i am speaking for myself only.

hi dpk yes we all do this and even if we want to be Miss mystery or Mr. mystery we show our traits in spite of ourselves. I have so enjoyed the give and take here among myself and all mylot friends, and its a place where I feel I do not have to pretend to be somebody other than whom I really am.I know some are afraid that something bad might happen on line here if they give too much away but I feel most of my mylot friends are wonderful kind people who are also honest and just want to be who they really are.I have a habit of taking people unconditionally that is warts and all, liking them just the way they are. so maybe I am naive but I would rather be that way than the way my own father was. He felt most people were out to get you one way or another. to me thats paranoid and a miserable way to live.So we who try to trust everyone may come a cropper now and then but its a much more comfortable way to view life.

Hi Hatley! You have rightly highlighted that we just cannot be Miss Mystery or Mr. Mystery here, if we try to hide ourselves under some veil, then we just cannot be ourselves and just cannot reveal our true feelings. I agree with you that those who feel apprehensive telling out themselves here are too cautious. Most of the mylotters are so good that they are not going to harm their friends. We are on the same wavelength, I believe everyone rather than looking at him/her with suspicion here on mylot and in real life. Thanks for enriching the post.

Hi deepak, This is a very nice discussion, in fact I was thinking of starting something similar I agree with you wholeheartedly when you say that we do reveal a lot about ourself while taking part in discussions and posting our views. It cannot be helped ...just think ,if you want to remain anonymous and you keep posting very non commital responses , then your earning and reputation suffers since you are neither here nor there, so once you get into the spirit of the discussion and start airing your views as you feel them, then you are bound to reveal a little of yourself ...

Hello Deepak, That is the reason i don't tell my friends about mylot. I have said so much here, more than i would want to share with my friends in real life. LOL. It would be quite embarrassing. There is a friend of mine, and i am not close to her but i told her about this place and i said i have this much amount in my paypal account and i earned all that from mylot. I fortunately didn't make her my referral though i was thinking to, but then her presence would have made me very conscious of what i am posting here. And fortunately she came in and registered by herself and started a few discussions and she couldn't keep up and left. I am glad she did, she didn't seem like someone who could keep up with mylot. Anyways, i have another friend of mine here and i am quite comfortable with him. We open up ourselves so much here and that is one of the reasons why we might not want some of our friends to join this place. LOL.

Hello vold! You have a very valid point to make that if you include your real life friends here, they will come to know many things about you, which they may not know otherwise. It is good that your friend did not continue here, else she would have come to know the 'real' you.. To be a regular mylotter here is not an easy task, it requires lots of dedication and will. Thanks for dropping in.

Although many share a lot about themselves we do not know each other really. Just pieces of puzzles but no whole pictures. There are things that I say here I cannot or wouldn't say in my personal life yet there are things I would never say here that I do there. I am sure it is this way for many of the people who write on here. Even the lonely who are here for company.

Sorry dpk! I just had to laugh, even though this is an absolutely brilliant discussion topic, as your's always seem to be. I was just thinking tonight that I just don't know why I can respond to discussions and "pour my heart out" and yet when it comes to starting one I get total "brain freeze". So, I am a bit jealous at how easily the thoughts flow for you! And, as most often I do agree with you. I think that even though some people try to "hide" behind the "mask" of the computer their personalities usually come through unless the really want them to be hidden. As far as I'm concerned I see no point in hiding. I am a straight forward and honest person whether it's good or bad you are going to hear it. If someone does something really bad to me, they are going to see and feel my wrath! If someone hurts me they will know. I am the same person on the computer as I am off!

Hi Opal! Many thanks for your kinds and sweet words, I feel doubly delighted to hear that you always appreciate my discussions. I also feel that it is not an easy task to start a new discussion wherein your friends could come and share their views. I start less number of discussion because I feel that my discussion should have some sum and substance in it. Responding a discussion is comparatively easier because one can anything in his response and the moderator will have to read that. You are very straight forward and honest and it is always a great pleasure to read your interesting responses. I know you write what you actually think. Thanks again for enriching the post. Hi dpk! Yes, very true. And you know me . . . I'm one of those who are somewhat under the veil, but I'm sure if anyone pieced together all my discussions, they could find me out. I think I'm basically an open person - just not about my exact location - for safety reasons as I always say. There are a few here who know my general vicinity, but that's as far as I'll go. But hey, talk me about anything else, and I'm sure I'll reveal a thing or two - hee hee!!

Unless we open up and talk about our personal lives it is difficult to know much about a person. And even if one were to talk about himself/herself unless one takes interest in the user that information will fail to remain in one's memory no sooner one finishes with myLot for the day. In the course of our interaction here we do take interest in a selected few and observe them closely and when this happens it is possible that we might get a peek into their lives but not enough to be able to make an assessment.

Hi Deepak, I do agree that we reveal ourselves here. Probably the security of knowing that we may never meet, or that the people I know in real life don't know them. I am always open, I don't believe in hiding myself. For that reason, many people don't like me. I can't help it. I prefer to be open about everything just so I can live freely. If I try to be mysterious or may be hide something, I just don't know how to handle that. I am a very bad liar. I would probably forget that I lied and then tell the truth anyway, that sort of thing. I have an opinion of some members here (members that I have become friends with - including you), of how they would be like in real life. May be I'm wrong, may be I'm right, who knows. It is just an opinion formed after reading their opinions here.

Hi Deepak, Hi zralte! Many thanks for agreeing with me. It is but true that while posting our responses we reveal a lot about ourselves. Those who pretend or hide cannot last long here, in my views. Because to tell lies is a rather difficult thing than speaking truth. For hiding a lie, you will have to cover it with hundred lies. We may share some of things which we may not share in our real life because here we can write freely. I appreciate your openess and I feel that you are like an open book. It should not matter, if some of the members here do not like your for your truthfulness. I also do not fabricate because it is difficult for me to hide the truth here and in real life, as well. I am same in my real life, as am here. It is also true that when we interact with some of the friends here regularly, we do form an opinion about them and our opinion stands more or less correct in most of the cases. Many thanks for sharing your views with fully honesty and I applaud your honesty.
