Every purse tells a story..

We all carry wallets, purses, handbags and if you happen to sneak into them you will find different stuffs telling you different stories. I found out that my colleague is a cleanliness freak with all those wet tissues, wipes and complete organiser inside. Another is full of anticipations and would carry meds, clips, pins in case she runs into a wardrobe malfunction or physical hurts. You will find my purse full of bills and papers that have expired long back. No wonder I am a procrastinator. What story does your purse tell? Of course if you don't mind.

this is a great discussion because it is so very true!! My purse will tell you that I am not the most organized person in the world because just as you, there are bills from long ago, receipts (old) and a ton of other papers that I probably don't even remember why I kept. lol When you view into my purse you will know I love make up because I carry a lot of it with me at all times. You will also see I am a lover of chapstick, I always, always have chapstick with me, and multiple ones because I feel like I will be lost if I get down to only having one and I misplace it, then what?? lol You will probably realize where I work when looking in my purse because I usually have a ton of pens from my place of employment in my purse (kinda a pen freak here). You will see I have 3 kids because there are pictures of them in my purse. There is more I am sure but I just don't feel like digging through that big ole thing right now, I guess my purse could be called the purse of many stories..lol Hey that sounds like a good title for a book (:

Aww..I love you chanaynay. You are being candid and sweet and a caring mom who works hard only to get back to home to the kids. I could relate to the chapstick part. even though, I hardly use it nowadays, I have to have one in my bag. Old habits die hard. And do you mind, if I take up on that title? It sounds just perfect!

Hi Chanaynay! The one thing I always misplace a lot, its my Vicks ointment. I like it so much. It is so helpful during long trips on very crowded buses, on hot weather when you feel nauseated and like vomitting. And also when some naughty mosquitoes get a bite of you..

Oh and I forgot to add one other thing you will learn by viewing the contents of my purse, you will realize I am a broke momma as there is never much cash in it!! lol

Hi Mimpi! Good Morning! Welcome to mylot after a long time. I do not hold a Ladies purse, however, I do carry a wallet. My wallet contains money bills of all denomination beginning from Rs.1000 Bill to Rupee one, neatly stacked in descending order from Rs.1000 Rs. 500 Rs. 100 Rs. 50 Rs. 20 Rs. 10 .Rs. 5 Rs. 2 and Rupee one, besides few coins. I do not want to be caught off guard while doing a transaction and if the shopkeeper/vendor does not have the ‘change’, I immediately provide him the exact amount. My important Credit and Debit cards are also safely stacked in my wallet. Besides you could find Credit card/Debit card slips, which I keep accumulating and forget to tear, till it is to the brim (like you). Besides, I carry my recent passport size photograph in my wallet, who knows when you may require it at short notice. I take care of my wallet and try my level best not to forget it while going out of my home.

You sound like quite organized. You carry a lot of money and well taken care of, which I appreciate. P size photo is a good idea. You never know who would want it and when! Seriously, I carry photocopies of my identity proof which essentially includes Pan card. These days every one seems to want it.

Lol! One never knows when s/he could be asked for his photograph or autographs or both, therefore I keep my photograph handy. One small suggestion - please do not keep the original PAN card in yr purse, instead keep a copy of it.

Thank you for your suggestion. I do that all the time. In fact my father make sure that I do not carry the originals.

It has a lot in terms of scraps of paper, besides the usual cards and money bills. Everytime I get into cleaning of the purse(which happens once in 6 months or so), I always find something which I have scribbled or of importance. It's old, Brown leather faded, a nostalgic look and feel about it, no sentimental value to it, just that I had taken a lot pains to select it. The previous one was much bigger, was a treasure trove also full of mysteries and strange small objects and insrciptions. Anyone who got to see the contents, would have had a very long and puzzled look at me.

Now that you have intrigued me enough, when can I sneak into it and give my expert opinion?! I have to agree with you there. They become an integral part of our lives, hard to let go. like, I am hoping to change my current hangbag to a new one. the current one is still good but I want to extend its life by working on it a little. however, that's not happening since besides being a mammoth task, I am so attached to it that I really have to sit and decide before letting go.

I think we have the same purse.LOL I have a wallet rather than a purse and my wallet is one that is meant for cards. I dont carry that much cash around and loose change would be found either scattered inside my bag or in my pocket. My wallet would carry identification cards mostly, some ID pictures, some frequent buyer cards from the local grocery/bookstore, a few bills, old receipts and some raffle entry stubs. I would also let it just bulk up until I feel that it has grown quite big. When I feel that way, that's the only time that I check it out, take things out one at a time and sort which ones I need to keep from those that I really should have thrown away ages ago.

Yep, that is true! That is also another reason why I love rummaging around other people's bags/wallets. I would ask for their permission of course.LOL I see it as an adventure and it gives me insights on their personality

Hi mimpi! I carry a bag that has almost everything I would need if I was to be away from home for a week aside from underwear! I keep hand sanitizer, wet wipes, a small toothbrush and paste, make up, moisturizer , cell phone, sunglasses, reading glasses and a couple of wallets, one holding all the usual credit cards etc. And the other just holds my grocery money. It is all very well organized and cleaned out on a regular basis. OMG, what does that say about me? LOL!

I love the 'non necessities in life' and how can I forget the gums and the clips. Downfall for women? Oh ys, I did have had falls before where my handbag played a major role. So, see, purses are character we cannot do without even if we want to.

Ah four check books? Well,I have a regular account that I use for bills, et. The second one is a special account for birthdays, etc... The second one is my hubbys. WE have had this account for a long time and when we separated, I opened mine and as for the fourth one, that is for a special account for hubbby that he shared with his mom and now his sister. I don't know why we can't seem to get it all back into one or even two but we don't. Doesn't matter! I don't want him to know how much I have and I'm sure he's the same way ! I really don't like purses. I have this little one that has room for cash, a check book , Id, credit cards and all that. But, then we have to carry hand cream lipstick, and the other non necessities of life LOL Hang in there. purses are just a down fall for us women..as well as gum wrappers and straws that we MIGHT use some time hugs, quita

I'm one of the orgranized anticipator...especially after I had kids. My handbag would have wet wipes, money, hanky,my debit card, pan card and driving license. Also a small bottle of water...a packet of bisuits....my keys, a pen, a small notepad for jotting down things...my mobile phone, a sanitary napkin, lip balm, a comb (small one), a mirror...sometimes my lipstick (:P), a cap for my little one. Then depending on the task I am out on, I might have bills or other papers. I regularly clean out my handbag and old bills and paper are put away in the right place or thrown away.

That's a long list but trust me most women have them in common. Our handbags can carry anything from cows to nails and hide secrets that no one would ever know. However, talking of the cleaning thing, not all do that like the way you do Sandhya. I, for one, sure don't.

I think my purse shows that I have a hectic life..lol...It also doubles as a weapon with all the change I get in the bottom of it sometimes. I can't carry a large purse nor a little one. I have to have the perfect size. I can't fit enough in a tiny one and the big ones..well...I just fill it up or I can't find anything in it.

This is actually funny because I just got a new purse earlier this week. So I'll start with the purse that I just replaced. It was a large Tupperware purse (because I was a Tupperware consultant and got it for free). I continued to carry it for a long time because of the fact it was the perfect size to stash a diaper and wipes in and not have to carry a diaper bag while my son was transitioning. Now, I have a very small purse that will only carry the essentials. It is arranged in a very ordered manner and I made sure that there is room to carry a camera with me at all times.

I have bags in various sizes and the problem is to transfer the contents from one bag into another. You can give my bags another name 'hotchpotch' as it contains a whole lot of items some required and some just dumped there with the intention of throwing them away but that day will never come. My money is thrown all over the place. My bags have several pockets which I try to use in an organised manner but somehow that system is never followed. But the joy I get is when I sit down and sort out my bags and put things in a respectful order.

Hey Mimpi, I am such a make-up freak. I love carrying all sort of make up products in my purse. I never leave the house with out lip-gloss and moisturiser. I carry enough tissues during winter and sunscreen lotion is a must in summer. Another important item in my bag is a bottle of water. I drink a lot of water, so you will find one small bottle (empty or full) in my bag always . Also, i don't go anywhere without my bank cards and house keys. I try to keep specific items in my purse and keep the purse neat.

I have different purses and handbags to suit various purposes. One is full of small change, one has some money and another is a small one used frequently for shops and essential purchases. One small purse has my Pan Card, credit card things that I should not search for. .One is a treasured big lovely leather bag, gifted by my son; he had painstakingly searched for a bag to suit me and it has three compartments. Now this is the purse containing my important bank statements, Dmat statements right now because some action is pending after my recent shift. When I travel, many small purses hop into this big handbag .Since I take this out on long travels this purse sometimes accumulates junk like paid bills which I frequently clear up. And how are you sweetheart? Long time , no see!

I am good Kala and reading you gives me immense happiness. Hope you all are fine and lots of love to the little one. So, you have handbags that keep you busy. i have one huge hoarder kind that stores all the important papers. I hardly look into it and by the time I would it would be stuffed with expired papers. Last year, it took me a whole day to sort those out and it ended in nicely done note pads made out of the throwaway papers. Recycling feels good.

I VERY seldom carry a bag, and never a purse, as I think it slows me down and puts my assets at risk. If something is important enough to carry it had just better fit in my pocket. I do keep my "junk" in the car, however. It is more secure there and yet easy to get at. Not carrying a hand bag was awkward at first, but now I am used to it. When I do have a bag I alternate between being a clean phreak and being messy, but no to the extent of mixing dirty and clean tissues!
