I recently finished reading Arthur C. Clarke's "Rendezvous with Rama", which is probably one of the best Sci-Fi books I have ever read. It was a really enticing read and I literally could not put it down. Managed to finish the whole book in two days, and that's with college getting in the way. :D I'd thoroughly recommend it to anybody who is a fan of Science Fiction. It's a very mysterious read which is far different to anything I've read before in Sci Fi. What about you? What's the most recent book you've read? Did you enjoy it, or would you recommend we stay away from it? :P

Recently finished "The Icebound Land" book three of the Ranger's Apprentice Series by John Flanagan. I enjoyed it, not as much as the first two, but still. I'm a fantasy fanatic though, and I'm not too fond of science fiction actually. My Dad was the sci-fi nerd of the family... I guess you could say that I rebelled a little bit.

Fantasy stuff is pretty awesome, and when it comes to sufficiently advanced Sci-Fi it may as well be fantasy anyway. I think the last fantasy thing I read was the Wheel of Time series.

They can be terribly similar though. I recall one fantasy series which was based in space which struck me as Science Fiction until a certain point. I can't recall the exact name of the series though. I haven't found the book since. I'm not saying they're the same thing, far from it. But there are numerous cases I've encountered where the line between them is extremely thin....

I count Science Fiction and Fantasy as two entirely separate entities and I am beginning to resent them being grouped together all the time. True, some books walk a line between the two, but they operate quite differently. I don't mind Sci-Fi, but I'm not a fan. I prefer fantasy.

Well, that would have to be the life story on Cliff Richard! I have just got into the habit of reading biographies and I think that they can be very educational! You can see how famous people have dealt with different situations in their lives! I wouldn't say I'm totally hot on science fiction, I probably focus on horror a lot more and Stephen King is my favourite author. I have to definitely recommend Cliff Richard's book, that was totally engrossing and I got through it quite quickly. Now I will have to decide what to read next but I can virtually guarantee that's it's going to be another life story! Andrew

I have to admit, I'm not a huge fan of biographies, but it certainly sounds like you really enjoyed it. :)

My most recent finished book was "Forever Neverland" by Heather Killough-Walden. It's a continuation of Peter Pan, after the Darling children return from Neverland. It takes a somewhat darker look at what might have happened, although not as dark as it might have been, since it's a young adult novel. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars. It was an interesting read, and I finished it in a day. It had some very nice moments, but it was just shy of being spectacular. There's one major detail that is off about the book. For some reason, the events happen in modern times, even though the story is supposed to be set just after the events of Peter Pan. But, if you can ignore that, it's a good read.

Certainly sounds like an interesting tale. I've not read the original Peter Pan in years, so I'm a slight bit rusty on the whole thing. But I tend to like darker versions of my childhood stories, so I'll be sure to give this a look. 4 out of 5 is a pretty good ranking.

That's a pretty unique title for a poetry book. I'm not a fan of poetry, but if I can find it in my university's library I'll be sure to look at it.

If you like Arthur C. Clark try "The Light of Other Days" by Clark and Stephen Baxter.

I've heard good things about that book. A friend of mine read it about a month ago and recommended it to me. I've been on the look out for it ever since.

I used to read books, classical and modern novels, before when I had lots of time. But, these days, with my full-time job taking most pf the hours each day, I rarely get the chance to read books. Just have to be satsisfied browsing through magazines. The book I last read , that was ten years ago , was Charles Dickens "David Copperfield". I had read that book three times.
