Hello! Has anyone of you heard of this anime? If not, then you should definitely watch this! I must warn you, that it's a shoujo anime, but it is very fun and presents how a relationship develops. I know that I can really relate to the plot. haha The story is about Otani (boy, 154cm) and Koizumi (girl, 178cm) who eventually fall in love depsite their height differences. It's a funny and heartwarming story. It shows that love is love, and height doesn't matter. It's one of the best shoujo anime I"ve ever seen. If you have already watched this, tell me what you liked about it? Good day!

Risa Koizumi and Atsushi Otani - Love?Com is a love story between a boy and a girl in Sakai, Osaka. The girl, Risa Koizumi, is 172 centimetres (5 ft 8 in) tall—much taller than the average Japanese girl. The boy, Atsushi Otani, is 156 cm (5 ft 1 in)—way below the height of the average Japanese boy. Because of this, they are called the "All Hanshin Kyojin" after a popular comedy duo that has a similar height difference.

During summer school, a very tall student named Ryouji Suzuki (from another class) shows up and Risa immediately falls for him because he is tall. There is a girl that Atsushi likes as well, so Risa and Atsushi decide to put aside their differences and help each other get their love interests. But as they get to know each other better, Risa's feelings for Atsushi begin to blossom, and her love life gets complicated from there on. They begin dating later on in the story.

One notable fact about Love?Com is that instead of speaking standard Japanese, almost all characters speak in Kansai-ben.[6] Many native Osakan voice actors are employed in the anime. While having one or two characters speaking Kansai-ben is common in many anime shows, having all characters doing so is unusual in media produced for a nationwide audience.
I got to know about this title from SecretBear's suggestions in a discussion before. I really do like the story and the characters in it. I started with the manga, as I would often do, before watching the animated series as well as that live movie which, I had to admit, was quite disappointing. I really like the manga more 'cause it showed more things that the anime had to leave behind. I guess that happens when you need to fit things in an episode, some things are left and some things are maintained or even altered, but would not compromise the entire story. The live movie seemed too fast which didn't give enough character development for all the cast members. All in all, I really like it even if its shoujo.. (^_^")

Glad to hear you liked it! And you must be a real manga enthusiast to read all of it! I don't have the patience to read them online! :D How many volumes/chapters was it? I agree in that the movie was fast-paced. I guess it was okay, but the anime was definitely better. :)

Well, yes, but reading the mangas isn't my priority, that's why I don't read that much online. :") Thanks for checking out the number of volumes! :D

Hello! The name of the anime is Lovely Complex. It is a funny drama, not much action in it though. Shoujo roughly means girl in Japanese. So it's a sort of "girly" anime. Or something that involves schoolgirls. :)

Hi happycaprice!!!! I have watched that anime a long time ago! Yes, I really loved it, too! It's a funny and sweet anime and and romantic, too! I just love how Otani and Riza's feelings for each other grew into love. I think I can understand their frustrations with their height differences. I personally don't think I would like a guy smaller than me.^^ So the anime is really inspiring because they conquered their height complex. You should also watch the live action movie if you haven't watched it. It's also funny and sweet although I can't remember anymore if it was fateful to the anime or to the manga. But still, I remember I had so much fun watching it.^^ I can't help but notice your avatar. That's Ueno Juri, right? Do you also watch Japanese dramas?

Teppei Koike was cute enough for me.^^ I hope they make a sequel. It would be interesting to see what happened next. Oh, I don't know about your taste in Jdoramas but I'm addicted to a lot of them right now.^^ BOSS 2 and GOLD are definitely worth watching. I started a topic about this in the jdorama interest. You can search for it.^^

hello again! (I actually replied to the other one, earlier). I really loved that anime because of their love development too. At first, I was like, "I can't imagine them getting together" because of their height complex. But they really did the story well. One of the best story-lines I've seen, actually. :P Yes, I've watched the live action movie! I was kind of disappointed with the guy though. Not cute enough. haha! I don't think it was really different from the anime. I watched it two years ago, maybe. I don't watch much Japanese Dramas anymore. I don't want to be addicted anymore! But if you feel there's something addict-worthy, I'd love to know! :D

As much as would love a sequel of Lovely Complex, I can't help but feel that they wrapped up the series beautifully. I rarely find endings that satisfied me. LoveCom was a rare find! xD I'll check them out. Thanks! :)

Hi caprice the happy Guess what! There was a Bollywood (Indian) movie by the name - "Main Meri Patni Aur Voh" (meaning - me, my wife and someone). It was released in 2005/6 and was based on these lines. It is also about the guy who is shorter in height than his wife. We (me and my wife) were watching it on the PC yesterday. I have not seen the one you mention about on the discussion though

Anime ones are quite good too... Mermaids, Bolt I liked them. Not sure about this one though as you say it is in Japanese... Maybe a dubbed one will be easier for me

Hello thesids! I'm interested in Bollywood films so thank you for sharing this one! I should start looking for this online. haha Lovely Complex is an anime though. I'm not sure if you would like that. However, there's also a movie of the same title played by real-life characters. It's in Japanese. Maybe you would be interested in that. :)

I already watched this anime a year ago, one of the best romance anime so far. I'm not sure if there's a japanese movie version of this anime. But I prefer the anime than the movie I guess.

I think I can handle watching shoujo even though they were for girls and some of thema re extremely mushy, I can handle all genre's of anime except from Tentacle and yaoi. Those are the anime I wont watch. The plot reminds me of the anime "His and hers circumstances" which is about highschool lovers who have their studies being affected by their relationship. I think I get to watch the live action movie of this serial, My girlfriend have a dvd of it. There is a Jdorma with the same title with this anime but its a different story
