BALUT: to eat or not to eat?

balut - An exotic dish
Philippines

Balut is a fertilized duck egg that is very much in the Philippines and other Asian countries, It surely is among the "favorite street food list" of most Filipinos. It is usually sold in the streets and is considered an exotic dish since it is eaten as an underdeveloped chick and is not eaten like a conventional egg. However, people outside the spheres of the Philippines find this disgusting and not-at-all appetizing. I want to know if you have ever eaten a BALUT and how do you describe the experience of eating such?

Hi, altirbonganay. I would and I could never eat a balut at all. It does not seem like it is cooked. It looks like a half way live chick that has not hatched yet. I can't describe this type of food because, it seems very disgusting for me to even think about eating. I never can seem to understand how someone else can manage to just eat this.

hehe.. it's ok cream..that's the usual reaction of the people who had not eaten balut..and i think you are not a filipino thats why you react that way.. but anyways we people differ in our taste..and i would say it's not bad at all..since many filipinos love it..well then that's all i can say for now.. :)

That would be a huge NO!!!! Yuck! I have eaten unusual foods before from snake to camel but this is something I will never eat. I saw my boyfriend eat this once. Just mentioning the name makes me want to vomit.
