The Philippines experienced the hottest day for 2011 yesterday (April 26) at a temperature of 36.8 degrees Centigrade at 3pm. PAG-ASA told that it was the effect of El Niño. The hot temperature is not good for the health of older people, it could trigger heart attack. I was lucky that I am at the office yesterday with 2 aircons in a small office, we could not barely feel the heat of the summer until we got out of our room because the building is not entirely airconditioned. I wish that I could share this privilege to my family who are left at home and have to endure the heat which could be felt even with a heavy duty electric fan. During summer, I am hoping that it would be raining soon and during rainy season, I am hoping again that the sun would shine soon. For Filipino mylotters, do you feel the same? For other citizens, do you experience the same?

It was indeed one hot summer day the other day. It was such a blessing that the heat did not bother me much. I agree that for the elderly, the terrible heat can gravely affect their health. Some old peole suffer from heat stroke and sometimes even heart attacks and high blood pressure because of high temperature. Maybe it will help them not to be out in the sun between the hours of 10am till 3pm and to drink lots of water. If they are just staying at home, frequent showers may also help them feel refreshed.

Oh...now that is why it felt like our whole building was an oven! And, unfortunately for me, in our office, of the two aircon units, the one nearest me is broken! And, even with my electric fan, it's still hot. I feel my brain is getting fried! I just hope that the weather won't get any hotter. I miss the rain.

I don't know if the unbalanced condition here in our building is good for our health. It is too cold inside the room but too hot in the entire building. During the U.S. navy time, our building is also the administration building and has a centralized aircondition. Now that it is broken, our maintenance told us that it could not be fixed anymore. We have to endure the unbalanced temperature until our company could finally find a budget to buy a new aircondition.

It is very hot today. It is 88 degrees and it is hot enough! When it is this hot, I don't like going outside either. I like to stay indoors where it is cool and icy. I wished that your family was able to have an air conditioner. A heavy duty electric fan just won't just do. I know what it is like for them. I remember suffering once, when I used to stay with my in-laws. The room that I was in was so hot. It was so hot until I could not stand it at all. We had a window fan and we felt nothing but hot heat from this window fan. We was so miserable. My kids stayed sweating in this room, it was just awful. Stay cool!
