Depression is a particularly mean disease!!! I've found that the best way for me to deal with it is to just not try & pull myself out of it!!! I've had problems with clinical depression for over 20 years now. There is NO one thing that triggers it & also NO one thing that makes it go away!!! I make regular visits to a Chiropractor & have noticed that seems to help some. When I made the comment to her one day that I needed an "attitude" adjustment as my depression levels were better after an adjustment. She said it was probably because I had better circulation to my brain after an adjustment. I found that most antidepressants just make the effects of depression worse!!! I have found St Johns Wort to be extremely helpful for me, but have friends who claims it doesn't help them. I found out quite by accident that if I take a high dose of vitamin B12 along with a high dose of vitamin E that my day goes by much easier & my depression has lifted within a couple day afterward!!! I don't take the vitamins every day, but on the days I'm in my deepest funk. I have a phobia when it comes to prescription meds, so I tend to go the "all natural" route. My medical doctor understands my fears & does her best to assist me. When I told her what helped she pretty much agreed with my Chiropractor & said the combination I was taking was increasing the blood flow to my brain thereby kicking in some bodily functions to decrease the depression. I also have a script of antidepressants that I don't take on a regular basis. However, if I'm in one of my really deep funks, I take one every day for 2 maybe 3 days along with an anti anxiety pill & that will often help too. My last doctor insisted that I take them daily to keep the depression away, but that didn't work for me...it almost killed me. My current doc says if it works best for me to take as needed, that's what she recommends. The one thing I've learned is that what works for one doesn't work for another. I firmly believe that depression is a chemical imbalance & each person needs to find out what puts them back in balance in order to help themselves!!! It's not easy but I have learned to just go with it & if I don't fight it too hard, it will let go in the near future. Fighting it just seems to increase the misery!!! I believe each person needs to pay attention to their own body & feel what does or doesn't help them!!!! HUGGGS to you or whoever is having problems with depression!!!!

What always amazes me is how many people who have NO clue what depression really is. I don't know how many times when I'm in the midst of a bad bout with depression & I'm asked "how are you?" If I respond "I'm feeling a bit depressed." invariably the response is"What do you have to be depressed about?" They just don't understand that there is NOTHING that you're feeling depressed about...you're just depressed. It is a feeling that consumes your soul...NOT an emotion you can control!!! My Dad thinks all you have to do is decide you're not going to put up with it & it will just magically go away!!! Well, it does NOT work that way!!! The first time or two you go through it, you feel like you're going crazy...especially if you think you can control it!!!

I have dealt with depression by just sleeping it off. I know a lot of people would say that is unhealthy but it works well for me. When I sleep it seems to ease the depression away from me and when a wake up it feels like a happy and knew day.

I have dealt with depression for most of my life. I just try to focus on the positive things in life to keep me unfocussed on what causes my depression. Some days are better than others though. It all depends if something triggers my depression to make me feel even worse.

hi 34 momma I learned a way to destress myself in diabetes management class many years back. You pretend you have a tough plastic bubble around your body thats totally invisible and nobody can see it but it makes stress bounce off you and it cannot hurt you. I use this a lot and it really helps as one's mind is powerful when applied correctly like that.

Well, I did get to a point where I was clinically depressed. It stemmed from my anxiety problems. I was on anti-depressents at a time, and now I'm on meds for my anxiety, since dealing with anxiety prevents the depression. Anyway, if I'm having a not-so-great day I'll go work out or go for a walk. Sometimes I try to get tickets for a musical, since they tend to make me feel better. When I'm home from school I'll bake, since it makes me feel better.

I chanted and prayed even though I was not religious. I took religion as a philosophy of mind. I realized religion is not just about a higher being. it is about changing one's mind so that one can learn to embrace the world. Reading about the Buddhist philosophy was like learning psychology and therapy. It is science, it is sensible, and tangible. For instance, one perspective of it is that a person must see the oneness of the self and the environment. We are each affected by our surroundings but we are also spreading our influence on our surroundings as well, even though we don't notice it. even if we do not want to, we have a responsibility of action because we are born as humans in society. people may not understand us but we have to try to be understood. at the same time we need to try and understand others.

I'm also dealing with depression everyday. I deal it through prayers; my strength comes from God. I am not taking any anti-depressant pills because I know that it will only worsen my situation. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Struggles that causes us depression can be overcame with the help of God. Problems are there to lead us to the pit but it leads us to draw closer to God. Whenever I started worrying about my life or started feeling depress, I pray. I always think that My God is bigger than my problem.

Depression? It so hard to avoid it because it is a part of our life as people. There are times that we are really down and don't know what to do in our life. Depression is the the dark side of our life. If we want to avoid depression, we must avoid the factors that causes these. Too much thinking of the problems can lead to depression. Try to divert your attention to other things.

Depression must be experienced by everyone. I also often depressed, when depressed, I chose to be alone, and more worship. That way, my heart became quiet, and my depression disappeared.

Try thinking about happy thoughts. Seek friendship and companionship. Strive to be busy with work and household chores. Sometimes, depression sets in because you have nothing to do but think about your problems all the time. Dale Carnegie posited that "you cannot think about two things at the same time". Read his book: "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living". Pray.

Hmmmmmmmm depression now all life is going in depression no one is happy in their life. Because no one is satisfied in their payment and requirements. They want more and more earning the dont want to know when they went no money will go with them. But friend really my life is happy life because I am not interested in showing means wearing lot of new cloths, sets etc. So my requirement is less but yes some time when I depressed due to husband's negative thinking I cried. My eyes always flow in a small event. But I am a talkative women so I tried to forget my depression as early as possible.

Whenever i'm depressed i just watch series of episodes that i find interesting because it is the only way that i can at least divert what i feel. Sometimes i listen music something that can aspire you like godly songs because sometimes music really speak to us by just listening with it. Another is through communication with your friends like talking with them, hanging out with them (bonding). I think that are just my management of depression. Depression is just normal but its much more common to those people who really have serious disease that is life threatening.

I was in a deep depression after I split from my second husband, I was so bad that I had to get on antidepressant pills. I felt that i wasn't worth anything and i resented my ex husband. He moved on with his life shortly after our split with another women and left me to basically start all over again. When I left him I wasn't working, so had no income to coming in and was living with my parents.I didn't want to go on,I slept all the time and was just angry with everybody for no reason. About 2-3 months into my depression, I knew I had to do something so I found a job and got on the anti depression pills, they worked and me working may me feel better about myself. But what really pulled me out of the depression was my family and my kids. I saw how it was affecting them and I didn't want them to see there mom that way, especially with them having to deal with there parents divorcing. So I just took it day by day and eventually I stopped taking my pills because I didn't need them anymore and found a better job. It took me 6 months to pull myself out of it, now I get depressed now and then, but for different reason. But I have my husband to help me and if it wasn't for his support I would fall right back into it again. Having a support system around you helps you alot.

How do I deal with depression? I take Zoloft every day. If I don't, I'll be a crying fit. Believe me, I KNOW that because I came off of it one time and I just couldn't stop crying. It was horrible! I never ever ever want to experience that again! The reasons for my depression is so many that I could write a deg gone book. I'm not kidding either. Also it's hereditary too, on my mom's side of the family but also due to a lot of stuff that I've been through all of my life. Zoloft helps me keep a somewhat of a sane mind.

I tried to focus on the good things in life, the simple things. I would start my day with my favorite song and then I would try to read some positive comments or a positive story. I would search on line for funny pictures so that I could remember to laugh each day. I would also seek some help, its always good to talk out your problems.

Right now, not too well. I am trying to remember why I am even attempting to go on. My daughter is my biggest incentive, yet I fight to keep from feeling like I am failing her. I try not to lay around and think too hard, like right now I decided to throw myself into cleaning the kitchen and I took her outside for a bike ride (she is out of school today for teacher's meeting). I am also fighting the urge cry which I usually don't have. I think I am eating too much sugar and my hormones are really out of balance, among other things. Hopefully I will be able to pull myself together and give more positive insight later.
