I recently started a new job and so far I have worked two days. The first day I seemed to enjoy it, but I guy from another department covered the shift with me the second day. He is the boss's best friend and he gave me terrible vibes. The whole day he was in and out of our department and leaving me by myself. We were very slow, but still he was supposed to be working. He had his cell out the whole time. He took something and was offering for me to take stuff too, but I refused. He was very catty acting and I just had the worst feeling when I left. I felt so heavy and burdened down, I had to pray when I left work. I don't want to say anything because he is the boss's best friend and he has worked with the company for almost 20 years. I just hope I don't have to work with him anymore since he was only a fill in until I learn everything I need to know.

Bear with him first, because you are new in the office. As you said, he was just a fill in until you learn everything you need to know. So, just go with the flow for the time being. You have to establish rapport first to your office mates. That way, you will be given insights on how to do things at the office and will find it easy to adapt to any situation as the days roll by.

I understand how you feel. But, it's good that you're not giving in to what he's doing/taking. I hope that the next days would be better for you.
