Expensive chocolates - are they worth your money?

I'm fond of eating chocolates in various brands and recipes. One time, i heard about Godiva chocolates. They say they are very expensive and taste like heaven. So, when my boyfriend came home from L.A. he bought one bag for me. Yes, they are indeed expensive but they don't taste that special to me. Aside from The Godiva chocolates, he also brought me a pack of Girhardelli chocolates and both of us agreed they taste way better than Godiva. But, they also cost way higher. Are you willing to spend much for a box of chocolates? :)

I too is fond of chocolates and I do prefer the one with mixed nuts in it.I don't know why there some chocolates that are really expensive. Is it the way they made it or the techniques they used just to have that chocolates. They say swiss are good and one country famous for their chocolates but I can't recall it.To me I think all chocolates came from one fruit cocoa, it only differs in taste in the way they do or how they prepared it.I love chocolates...

I think some chocolates are expensive because of the brand. As for some, the ingredients are kind of expensive or rare so the chocolate becomes kind of expensive as well.

It all depends on your particular brand of sweet tooth. I myself being a chocolate addict, I've tried just about every kind you can think of. The expensive ones were never too much of a favorite to me, but I am a sucker for those valentine's day chocolates, those are the quality goods.. Girhardelli chocolates are extremely good especially the caramel. However, the price is sometimes a hassle.

Yes, the Girhardelli is one of the best, indeed. I have also tried Lindt by Lindor. My brother came from Australia two months ago and brought with him dozens of boxes.I think every chocolate lover must try one bar of it. It comes in a bite size ball too... you must love it if u like chocolate glazed with caramel :)

hello, I think the first payment in here is the name of the chocolate and the main ingredients of it specially if they dont used a sugar to make this sweet, something like that. Even I love chocolates I hate buying the expensive one because it wont worth my money. ha ha it is really hard to earn and then I will just waste it by a bar of chocolate? no thanks Id rather buy a cheap one at least I can have more of it. ha ha right?

I agree. We always pay for the brands. Just like the Bailey's Chocolates i tried when my brother brought home one box. They taste like the drink but they aren't good tasting chocolates for me. Maybe for those who like to drink, but not for me.

No not really. I don't think it's worth the money. I'm fine with my Cadbury's milk chocolate. If anything I think that the chocolates that are cheaper taste pretty much the same as top quality chocolates. Unless I'm really looking for a treat I'll stick to the cheaper options.

Well some of those expensive chocolate brands taste delicious, but I think the lower cost brands taste as good or just as good So no I don't think that high priced chocolate is worth it when you can get great tasting chocolate for less money.

I too love chocolates and have tasted Godiva and others. You are so right. I too did not find anything special about them but since so much was being said about them, I tried them out. When I was in Australia I visited a shop that sold chocolates and there in a basket were chocolates which were unwrapped. I can say that those chocolates which I am sure were home made tasted far better than so many other names I have tasted. As they say 'beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder' So too I suppose taste lies with the taster.

I indulged but only once. I bought a box that's around $10 and to me this is spending too much on chocolates already . I was craving for Royce chocolate but the shop is too far and I read somewhere that locally made Pauline chocolate is also similar to Royce so I gave in . But that was the only time I did it. And I think it was worth what I paid for so no regrets. However, still, I don't like to spend much on expensiv chocolates so I'm contented with Cadbury or Dove.

Last valentine's day, my boyfriend gave me champagne flavored Royce chocolate. I know the price of the chocolate and I have to say that it's pretty expensive. BUT, if I was the one who bought it, I would consider it worth every single penny. Of course, I would not always buy it but I will always consider it to be worth it. Maybe once every four months I would buy some. :)

when i buy chocolates, i try different brands every now and then. If it tasted so so good, i would definitely buy more. but if it is as expensive as clothes, i won't buy them. there are a lot of cheaper chocolates out there that taste like heaven.

hello Athengenre... :) lucky me that i dont like chocolate... i eat chocolate but not a big fan of it... i love to eat cheese so much, so maybe im the only one who ask cheese on valentine day... :)) lol i think spending a lot money only for chocolate is a waste of money... you can buy other important stuff with the same money... or maybe stop eating chocolate and invest the money to build chocolate factory... :) d(^_^)b cheers...

Why spend more money when it is not that great anyways. I am just as happy with the cheap candy. Give me a Reese's or hershey and I am happy. Take care.
