I have never seen you. You have never seen me. I don´t know who you are. You don´t know who I am. You have 0 discussions started. You have 0 responses to any discussion. You are just collecting friends. Why are you here?? Please let me know you before I accept you as friend.. Let me know your opinions and dreams.. Let me know more about you.. You could start a discussion by introducing yourself.. Give us a little background.. We are nice people here, most of us.. we might like you when we know a bit about you.. Do you feel like this when someone like this requests for your friendship??

Just a few seconds ago before reading this post, somebody invited me to be her friend and she has zero posts. Nowadays I just don't care much who invites me. It doesn't matter at all, I just accept them. If one has zero post, I send a private message thanking the person for adding me and hoping that he would participate in the discussions here in mylot.

Well, I accept all people that request for friendship. I don't need something to proved that they want me to be their friend...The important thing is that they ware willing to be my friend...

Your not knowing me is the main reason I want to be friends with you. You will appriciate my honesty. I am a nitwit who thinks funny and a dimwit enough to respond with my version of wit. I been shooed, shushed and even whacked. Seroiusly I am not taken seriously. Only people like you who do not know me make friends with me, will you please? I accept your friendshp unconditionally.

Well, webearn99, I can be your friend - I am enough dimwit so I didn´t understand what the three words you were using about yourself meant before I chacked in a dictionary.. Wooww, three new words to my vocabulary..hehe.. Sent you a friend request

I have a total of 62 pending friends' requests which will steadily increase. I watch their progress and when I am satisfied that they are contributing here I very slowly add them but I do not delete any friends no matter how negatively they have performed vis-a-vis me!!Attitude of users changes with time and deleting a friend is the harshest thing I have seen here. What benefit does one get by deleting a friend. Leave them be.

One particular user was responsible for my star to go down but I have not deleted her from my list. I lose nothing by keeping them there.

Was the person rating you with a minus for having a different opinion..?? Some have to grow up and accept that everyone has the right to think differently.. Maybe your kindness helps them to become more accepting.. I hope it helps in some cases..

Does their activity affect your rating? From what I'm reading here, it's kind of like a reputation and who your account is associated with will affect your rating?

I have not yet gotten that, but my guess would be that they see you as someone important and therefore automatically think that being "friends" with you would be beneficial. The friend requests I have received and accepted were from others that had posted in the same thread as me. Maybe when I am more well known, I will also receive such strange requests.

Thanks for the welcome! I just figure if they spam me, I will give them the advice you suggested. And if it continues after that, off they go! The thing is, if I wanted suggestions on where else to go to make money, I would hit up the sections about making money, or go to a respected mylotter's profile and try to pick up tips from them.

I can understand you - nobody wants to have an inbox full of spam, we only want the PMs from our real friends!!

Too late, as we are already friends, lol. If I get a friend request, I usually go look at the profile and read some of the discussions and replies and reply to some of their old ones upon accepting. That is, time allowing. :-)

Well, Ann - I think we know each other a little bit.. I often do much the same as you and check who wants to be my friend. Then respond to some of their discussions - most times there is something that interests me. Some who ar not active at all, I let stay for a while and wait and see if they become active and then decide if I accept them. Most times I do, but 0 activity does not encourage anyone to accept frinds, I think.. Have a great day..

I let them sit until I see that they've actually been active. Too many spam messages from newbie "friends".

Hi. buenavida. I feel like this too. The main question that I am usually asking them is, "Who are you and why do you want to be my friend, first?" I mean there are many members here at myLot besides me, but, "Why me?" I am your first friend that you want to make on myLot. It is very strange. I usually don't accept friend requests that are like this. If they write me and tell me who they are if I ask them, then I will reconsider being friends with them.

Hi, cream I guess thy can´t write to you personally before you have accepted them as a friend, but they could at least start some discussion and tell about themselves and ask if someone wants to be friends with them. One of my friends did just that when she was new. I hope myLot invents some feature so that they have to be a bit active before requesting friendship. Have a great day..

Well it makes no sense to even request friends here if your not even gonna be an active member, but maybe whomever made that friends request could be a newbie and they may not fully understand how this forum works I've gotten request like that, and I'm willing to give a person/member the benefit of the doubt as long as they do not attempt to spam me or harass me I'll accept there request.

Hi buenavida, Oh gosh I get so many requests daily, and granted it is because I am very active. What the motive is of someone who has requested me is unknown because if we have not interacted I don't understand why they think it is okay to request friends. Sometimes members come here with the intent that if they add lots of friends, that the friends will answer their discussion then they earn. Which we as seasoned users know that unless we comment back we will not earn. It is hard to accept all, although to date I have not turned anyone away, but it is getting too hard because some will only add you to spam too. I have been lucky not to have a problem and have actually developed some really great friends on myLot. So I have recently slowed down on quickly adding and seeing if there is some interaction first. Only reason why I have been doing this is because I don't see how it is possible if the members starts discussions about interests that I am not compatible with that they later feel that I don't want to respond. Kind of a feel out situation but for now it has been working well.

Yeah, I think we have to have some strategies or we´ll drown in spam.. I have not had so many of this kind of requests but lately I got three in a short time. It can be a good idea to not accept them before they start being active and we see what sort of interests they have.. Have a great day..

I haven't been on the site in quite a while and came on to find FIFTEEN FRIEND REQUESTS. I was FLOORED. Haha! I accepted all of them, don't get me wrong. Mostly because it's MyLot and it's harmless, but I was sort of shocked that I had that many. And some where as you say - 0 discussions started, 0 responses, no picture. I wonder why, but it doesn't seem like such a big deal to me. NOW, if these people asked for my address... THAT would be a different story altogether.

Yes, we are actually protected by being anonymous. Many reveal only their country and the spammers don´t hurt us much, they are just annoying and we don´t need to answer to their messages if we don´t want to. Let´s see if myLot invents some way to clean up our inbox from too much spam.

Hi, hnaboro, and welcome to myLot!! Yes, we need to be a bit cautious and many of us wait and see if people really become active before we accept them as friends.. We all learn from each other here, so I think you will like this place!!

I do feel this way when someone with no activity makes a request. Unfortunately, there is no way to contact the person. myLot would be smart to treat friend requests like they do copy/paste features--you must achieve a certain amount of activity before you're granted the privilege. Maybe 20 replies would do the trick!

Yes, dragon - that would be nice! Even 50 responses and some discussions started would be good and not too much and they would help to weed out the spam senders..Perhaps we could send a suggestion to myLot?? At least you are working hard here, my friend..

Some people just like to waste our time. It's the same on Triond. We get new fans that have never read our work. Best to just disregard them until they show some interest in what we write.

Yes, that may be a good way to do it, wait and see what they do. Some new here might not understand the written and unwritten rules here - they could belong to those who don´t know the difference of left and right.. Let´s see if myLot invents some rules so that they have to have some activity before they can request friendship. Could we suggest that to the admin here..?? Have a great evening..

Well, there are only a few that I know of that do this kind of things. Perhaps they don´t understand how it all works and some of us wait some time to see if they become active before accepting them..That is one way to do it, but it´s not a big problem.. Good day to you too..

It happened to me 3 times during the last weeks, and the last was today. I accept them, and if I am spammed, I send them a PM asking to don't do it again : for the moment it works. Some new members are collecting myLot friends' just to collect friends. Generally those (0) members stay always at (0), never post anything -- even not a PM --, so they are not very disturbing.

You are right, topffer.. There are some who are completely passive.. are they shy or what?? I have some referrals like that. I guess some join and then forget about this site..who knows?? Anyway, most of my friends are very nice! Have a great day..

I know what you mean, I keep getting this friend request from somebody that has been around for a while BUT this user doesn't post anything, my guess is that is just another spammer looking for referrals, I don't add people any more unless we become friends. What's the point, I mean we are here to socialize and to discuss not to add everybody as your friend to spam them via PMs.

Hi, priya and welcome to myLot!! I hope you make some great friends here!! Most people here are active and we learn to know them and get friends - they are not here just for getting referrals to their sites. Have a great time here..
