Gotta love this varietys' name. they are red and green bell peppers basically. When ripe, they'll be 8 inches long and 3 inches in diameter with a sweet taste. Sounds good to me so I planted a few this year. Ever eat this variety of peppers? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

All peppers start green and then change to red, orange or yellow. In my experience, neither the color nor the size makes any difference to the taste. The only advantage is the big ones are easier to clean.

Actually they have just red or yellow pepper varieties. I have bought them previously. Banna pappers are all yellow. Thanks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Big Bertha seems suitable to me. lol. That one in the photo looks very healthy. So with great sun and care looks like you are going to have some mighty Big Bertha's there. I love Bell Peppers in the summer time too, as I like them in salads and in sauteed items also. I like to pick the best ones at our market and have them on hand all the time. Sadly I can't plant where I am know, but if all goes as we are pre-planning I may be able too some time next summer if we end up moving to Arkansas.

I buy a lot of my veggies as large plants like this as we have been known to have snow and frost here in May. Plus it's easier than seeds at times. All the seperating etc takes too much time for me. LOL! They are great roasted on a BBQ grill as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I will never forget the year that the labels got switched on pepper plants at Wal Mart. It was the end of the season and my pimiento peppers still were scrawny and pale, so I picked them all, using some in a potato soup and some in a salad. Turns out they were actually Habaneros. Wow, they were hot.

I have not planted this variety, but I would suspect it is one I have bought at a Farmer's Market or at the store. I am really ready for fresh grown food. Have you ever planted any winter onions? I have some of those. It is like having scallions year around.

I bought a Big Bertha today even though I have pepper seeds to plant as well. These winter onions are sometimes called Egyptian Walking Onions as well.

I've got to find these! My mother's name was Bertha and her nickname when she was a teenager was Big Bertie. And, we love peppers, so I need to find these somewhere!! Good luck with them!

Never heard of that kind. The only ones they usually sell up here are all the hot ones or your basic green bell peppers. We don't usually have any luck with peppers. I am trying to convince hubby to plant something else instead.
