So, I have always wanted to work abroad either in Japan or in Switzerland as a teacher, but I just haven't gotten the chance to do so; however I did get to work in China and Russia which were AWESOME. So, I was wondering if anyone had had the chance to work abroad? If so, where did you work and what did you do? If you haven't worked abroad, would you like to? Where would you want to work and as what? I'm just wonderng how many people are interested in travel versus more homebody-like people.

When I was 18 years old I got a one way flight to Finland and went to work as a children's nanny there. I liked teaching the youngest daughter to speak English. The family had a town house, a farmhouse in the countryside and a lakeside cottage. I found the experience very enjoyable. I went home by traveling around Europe by train. I worked in London in my home country for a couple of years for a shipping company. Sadly I was made redundant and it was very challenging to get another job. I let out of cottage and got a working holiday visa for Australia. There I worked as a children's nanny, a charity collector and a factory packer. Now I work as a primary achool teacher so children's nannying helped me. I think I won't be able to work abroad again. I have got a disabled son and am lucky we have the National Health Scheme.

I saw an advert in a British newspaper offering ther nannying job in Finland and responded to it. I got a work visa so I could work as a nanny in that country. I got a nannying job in Sydney from a nannying agency and I responded to an advert in a shop window in Brisbane. That lady had wanted a mature lady but couldn't find one so she was happy to have me. I was a young working holiday maker. It is lovely that you are a primary school teacher as well.

Wow! I'd like to work as a children's nanny in a foreign country! Where did you hear about these oppotunities? I bet it must have been so much fun, working in Finland and Australia. Currently, I am a primary school teacher as well :-)

No, never. Went to school abroad, in Germany, but I've never worked abroad. Yeah, I might like to, somewhere where I can get by with either English or German, I guess.

You studied abroad in Germany? That is so awesome! What were you studying and which part of Germany? My mom lived in Germany for two years with her first husband (military man). She LOVED it. She always talks about going back, haha!

Nope. It never crossed my mind. I am contented working in my country no matter how difficult life can be here. A lot of my countrymen are working overseas and most of them I hear, that if there are just enough local employment they would just go home and work. What I am looking forward is traveling overseas, but work, nah. There is no better place like home.

I've always wanted to work in Japan as a teacher being 1/4 Japanese, but unfortunately I'm still inexperienced, I'm planning to apply there after three years or so...

I've always wanted to teach in Japan too! (I think I wrote that in my original paragraph, but I can't remember, haha.) Have you heard of the JET program? When I get my BA, that is the program I want to do it with. It seems really wonderful.

hi jypsyjulia honestly i tried to work on abroad my mom let me experience how hard to work as an OFW and i tried also to be an baby sitter , it is so difficult to work and being an OFW or baby sitter is not that easy, but luckily my employer are generous, they are nice to me but now that i saw how difficult working to another place i aim to graduate and apply my course, and i am not spending much in things that it is not that important to me.
