hello mylotters, i have this great note on my bedroom wall for years... can you imagine there are a lot of people who treat their children nicely, but the rest of them treat their children so bad... i hope this can help us remember how to treat our children... cheers and happy mylotting... d(^_^)b Children Learn What They Live By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D. If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn. If children live with hostility, they learn to fight. If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive. If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves. If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy. If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy. If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty. If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence. If children live with tolerance, they learn patience. If children live with praise, they learn appreciation. If children live with acceptance, they learn to love. If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves. If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal. If children live with sharing, they learn generosity. If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness. If children live with fairness, they learn justice. If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect. If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them. If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

Very very nice post. I just bookmarked it so that I get inspiration from it as a parent. By the way, hello, Cieldz, nice to meet you. As a parent and a psychologist, I believe that children should always be encouraged and appreciated for their little accomplishments. They should be loved and not told again and again of their negative aspects. Nobody is perfect, so why do we want our children to be perfect. Very very nice note for everyone.

We had a picture of that too in our house when I was younger. It was hung very close to my bed, so I saw it every morning when I woke up. It's broken now, tough. The termites got to it. I love this poem. It's form is very simple, but the message is deep. More people should read this. Thank you for sharing it.
