So my step-brother joined the army in April of 2010. He entered as an E-3. He is claiming to be a W-1 and got it through three letters of recomendation. He said he didnt have to turn in a packet or go in front of a board. I asked him if he did his school and he said yes, but has more when he gets to the states. he is stationed in Korea. The info I looked up says you must be E-5 or higher with 5-8 years in the military. The process of turning in a packet and going in front of the board can take up to 12 months. Im just wondering if anyone cld help me here to see if hes lying. I find it interesting he went in with some college, only age 21 I believe, in the army for a year and now a W-1?

I was talking to him on FB. He said he got W-1 by three letters of recomendation. it seems wierd since I know the schools are in the US and he hasnt left Korea from what we know. I posted a congratulations on Fb and if hes lying the truth will eventually come out. His story just seems sketchy. I did ask him to post a pic of himself on FB, but he has yet to do it.

Sounds like he is trying to pull on over on you.
First off: is he technician and aviator? If no, he can't be a Warrant Officer.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe Warrant Officer school is only done stateside. Even if by chance he rank up the ranks to E-5, he would have to go to school in the US.
If he enlisted in April 2010, he went through basic training, then AIT, and is now stationed in Korea. He could be an E-4 (Specialist/Corporal) since he has been in a year, highly doubtful he is a E-5 (Sgt).

His story does sound a bit unreal. I mean cld be possible, but were not sure. A lot of ppl doubt him. Im hoping by placing a congratulations on Fb the truth will hopefully come out. If its true than no one will doubt him and he wont be questioned anymore.
