Several years ago I had a massive rearrangement at my place. A lot of stuff just got packed in boxes and put places. In all the rearrangements two things of value were lost. One was a cartoon strip of a member here. The other was a photo album my parents put together and gave me, and my siblings, for Christmas the last Christmas my dad was alive. Well, no luck finding the cartoons, YET. But this morning the roomie went thru a box and FOUND the album!!! I am SO EXCITED! Its been in the shed we haven't been able to get into until this last week. We worked 2 hours each evening Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Then Saturday, after waking up early, and I put in an hour of packing winter clothes in the house before it was light. Then starting about 8 a.m. and working until 11:30 on Saturday morning, and putting another hour and a half in this morning. (So, if you add it up 2 people times 12 hours, plus another hour of one person makes 25 hours of work. But today, completely by accident, to keep a soda from damaging anything in the box on the table (put there on Tuesday when we started), the roomie found at the bottom of the box, the photo album! The roomie doesn't believe in afterlife, but she says that many people might say that my mom made sure it was found for me on Mother's Day! Well, all I can say, is THANKS! Thanks "L" for leaving your Dr. Pepper on the table! Thanks "V" for putting some books on the table and knocking over the soda, and saving the box from it! And then looking through the box! And, Mom, if YOU had anything to do with it... THANKS and I LOVE YOU! So, have you found something you lost lately? Yes, I'm still looking for the cartoons!

GOOGLE can help - Do you know the nickname the user who gave you the cartoons uses here on MyLot? If you do or did you could possibly find the cartoons archived on the Internet. You could in fact find everything your friend ever wrote on MyLot.

We have moved several times in the previous years and much of our stuff is still in boxes. Some is in this house, some at another, and there is much squashed into the van and various outbuildings. It's so exciting to find something previously lost, though sometimes I come across things and wonder why I bothered packing them in the first place!

actually, this box was mostly full of things like that and buried underneath the rest the album! It was GREAT to be able to leaf thru it again!

That is wonderful. I wish I could find my husbands cell phone. He lost it sometime over the last couple of days. He thinks he may have dropped it outside at a friends house the other day.

YEAAA! I'm very glad for you that you found the picture album. I wish that I could find some individual snapshots that my husband and I both remember but can no longer find. They may have been lost in the '72 or'73 floods, or who knows. One of the pictures embarassed him at the time, but now he'd like to have it to show to friends.

That's tough, I've been very lucky that I've never lived, well since 1973, in a place that could flood. The place we moved out of in 1973 I told my mom would have water in it in 10 years, it was actually 8...

HI, I sure it is great to find stuff that is missing for a long time. I am happy to hear that you have found some of your stuff. I do not think I have found anything of mine missing lately but maybe something will turn up.

Congratulations...that was a wonderful find. I love looking at photo albums and there are usually a few years between lookings so it's always fun. I was having a bit of a tidy up in my car shed yesterday and I found the box where I had all the bookwork from when I had my cafe. That was sure an interesting visit to the past.

Awwww Elic, that's great! That album has a lot of meaning to you and I can understand why! I can't imagine the time it took for your parents to make such a thing for you and your sibilings. That alone means a lot! I'm glad you found it because it brings so much joy to you. As for myself, I lost my hearing aids in the midst of moving from Arkansas to North Carolina and couldn't find them for weeks till one day I put on my jacket and there they were!! Right in my pocket!! I was SO happy to finally have them back! lol Hang in there and have faith, you'll find the cartoons too. Just keep on looking!

I'm so glad you found it! This should encourage you to finish your cleaning of the sheds and organizing. Things like that are irreplaceable and such a treasure, they are more valuable than gold. I believe what happened to you leading up to the discovery is called serendipity--when all things conspire and come together to cause a beneficial event at usually at a special time.

Very true, but we can't work out there if it is hot, neither of us handle the heat well. We are going to be gone the next two weekends, and can only hope the weekend mornings will be cool enough for a while to get some work done out there.

Well, I have sort of found my brain over the weekend. As for the 'toons, keep looking, please! Especially since you've now gone & given me hope! The "Zoo" lives! I have lost all and had to start my life over about three times over the past 50 years. And I mean everything that I owned was lost. There was no chance of saving anything. Now I don't amass much in case I have to go through the same thing again. So I know how you must feel with finding something that you thought was gone. I have misplaced things in this last 'reincarnation' but usually they turn up after a little rummaging.

That's terrible! I know someone here, who lost everything, included loved ones, in a fire, so I've been very fortunate that I haven't lost things quite that way.

I like the idea that your mother ensured you would find the lost album! I believe that sometimes strange or negative chains of events can lead to the best outcomes! I spilled coffee on my beloved laptop last week rendering it useless and I was shattered until my darling husband agreed to buying a new one which I love even better and making our daughter ecstatic when he had my old one fixed for $75 and gave it to her. It all started with what seemed like a disaster and worked out well for all concerned...Except for our bank account...

When you go through old boxes you never know what you will find. Congratulations on finding the photo album. That is the kind of thing that can't be replaced. To find it again on Mother's Day, must have made it mean even more.

Yeah! The roomie came in just as I was climbing out of the shower and said "I've found the Holy Grail!" "What?" I said. "Come see," she said, and started doing something in the kitchen. "I can't," I said, I'm still wet! "I found the Holy Grail!" she said again. "What?" And then the pin dropped! "You found the photo album?" "Come see! Come see!" she said again. I threw some clothes on and came out and she held it up! I've been fretting over it being lost for about 4 years! and it seems to have some rust on the rings, but the pictures aren't damaged! I took it with us out to her mom's to show, and look again at myself!

Hi Elic! I think that is great that you found that album that means so much to you. I believe that some things to happen for a reason, even crazy things! And I also believe that sometimes they do get a "little help from those beyond"! I've had things happen that make me wonder myself~
