my dream home - i want to live in a house like this
India

To live in a house like the one in the attached picture, away from home, free from traffic noise etc, but enjoying the beauty of nature, hearing the birds etc But the home must have the modern amenities like electricity, refrigerator, washing machine, food processor, micro oven, television , internet etc, I can’t live without these. Well this is just thinking, in reality I can never live alone, my wife, kids, grandkids must be with me. Do similar thoughts come to you? Can you live alone? Can you live without the modern amenities? Please respond and share your valued opinion, Thanks in advance. Professor ‘*Bhuwan*’. . Cheers have a lucky day ahead.

That is nice and we can make it real for ourselves too~ I live with my family and the only thing I wish is to have my own space. But I am still thankful and feel grateful that I still have home to live.

I can never live alone. I always like to have somebody with me, even if we don't always talk with each other. I just have to have somebody to assure me at all times ,that if anything goes wrong i could rely on that person for assistance. But it is also my dream that when my husband and i retire, we could opt to live in a house like that, where it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. However, it has to have the modern amenities because we will be old then, and these amenities could facilitate our daily activities. But it has to be that , every now and then, family members will be with us to savor the laid back life.

Dear Dina I agree with you, as we grow older, we need more closeness, more care. Why don't you buy a plot of land in the province, close to sea now, start saving to build your dream house there? Thank you for sharing Enjoy life to fullest. Professor ‘*^Bhuwan^*’. .

Husband and I don't have to have, a dream house built. Our patriarchal house in my hometown will be enough for us to stay whenever we feel like being close to the sea because it's a walking distance from the sea. We plan to go there every now and then, when we are retired already.

Well, I don't exactly live in a house like this as there are no trees growing on/through my roof but, other than that, I do live in a house like this. We have neighbors but cannot see any other houses because of the trees between us and them. We have a lot of lakefront footage on our property. We're far enough away from major public roads that we cannot hear most traffic. All we hear, for the most part, is nature. The really great thing about where we live is that we are not too far from everything we could need. One convenience store (and gas station) is 1.7 miles from our house. The first major store that sells food, medicine, gardening needs and any other thing we might need is 6.7 miles from our house... a bit far to walk but only 10 minutes away by car. Now, could I live here alone? YES! I've lived alone before. It has it's good points and bad points but, for the most part, I would prefer to live alone. Like you, I do like my electricity, washing machine, refrigerator, etc. so living in the wilderness wouldn't be an option but I have done without all that for four days before after a hurricane knocked out our electricity. I did quite nicely, though, with an outdoor grill, candles, books, battery-operated radio and a fishing pole. By the way, I LOVE that house!!! I've never seen a house with trees growing on/through it before.

What a lovely place. The same is being aspired for by all who keeps on busying their day with hard work and pressures of chores. If only we can be fed without working and not having any responsibility of being a parent, I should have enjoyed living in a get-away island with what you have mentioned, modern amenities. I do not want to be Jane of Tarzan.

At one point in my life, I did want to live in a more rural setting like this. But now I have health issues and must take those things into consideration. But I agree--I would need modern conveniences too, although a maid/handyman (or a healthy boyfriend to take care of me!) is FAR more important to me than a food processor! ;)

Hi Professor! I would love to live in a nice modern home with all the eminities, but unfortunately, that isn't possible. I have enough of the "modern emenities" that I need, even if I don't have them all! I don't have a dishwasher, but I can live without it and my washing machine doesn't work and uses alot of electricity and I still have to hang clothes to dry. My bf takes the clothes to the laundromat so I don't have to carry them. As for anything else, I use fan's in the Summer and will put on the Air Conditioning for a brief time if necessary. But, I try to get by with the basics because I am on Disability and my bf is laid off for the Summer.

To be honest, i can't live without modern amenities, and these are the ones that are considered basic and almost a necessity nowadays. First , i must have an internet, and of course obviously a computer system unit.Secont an air-conditioner or an electric fan is almost needed.I think these are the only ones that i need which we consider modern stuffs. It is okay to live with family but sometimes its really wonderful to live by yourself, when all seems quiet and clean or organized. I think it depends on a person's personality, for I consider myself a loner. (^_^)

my parents also have this dream that's why we can't convince them to move to the city. in a way, their house is now like this. it's very quiet and at 5pm you can already hear the chirping of insects. they also have a beautiful garden and they grow their own veggies.

Yes I think I could do it for awhile. Eventually I think I would go crazy though and probably snap from not seeing anyone for a really long time. I don't think its possible for humans to live without other humans

My dream would be to live somewhere near the sea, so I could go and enjoy nature. I couldn't live without most of the modern amenities though (except a TV!). I wouldn't want to live alone though - I want to live with my other half, and definitely a dog, though I'm not sure about kids etc. But being able to take the dog for a walk on the beach, living away from lots of traffic, generally away from big cities....That's my dream. Fingers crossed one day we can achieve it!

I can never live alone and I need my family with me. While it is easy to think of such a house the practical implementation is very difficult if we want family also to be with us because proper job opportunitiess may not be availbale at such places for children especially if they are higly qualified. So, I am most happy if I have some trees and birds in the vicinity. If they are close to my compound or in my compound then my life is made.As far as amenities are concerned ,the gadgets and facilities quoted by you have become a necessity rather than a luxury these days.I certainly need these amenities.

Ah, Professor, I know what you mean! I often thought of the very same thing . . . and will fantasize living in the environment of nature. But in reality, I don't know how long I would last . . . I too am a slave to modern amenities - and I can never truly be without my family. They had a program on TV like this - it was a contest of some sort - and boy did the families on the show have a hard time after a while!! It could be fun at first, but it's a lot of hard work to live only in nature - LOTS of hard work that all of us take for granted!! So as much as I would dream about churning my own butter - I am thankful I can buy all the butter I want at our local grocery store - ha ha!! Take care - and remember we can always dream!!!

I sometimes wish I could live in a dream house like the one in the picture,it would be relaxing and it would allow me to recharge my batteries and face the battles of daily life, but I couldn't live in such a house without modern technology,I would soon get bored without TV and Internet,so for me the dream house would be a combination of traditional elements with modernism and advanced technologies. As for living alone,I could do it for a while, but then loneliness would probably make me feel sad and depressed, even if I had the best conditions in my dream house.

As children we have found or created special places to satisfy our basic needs, often unconscious: the need to feel safe and protected from dangerous and crazy world around us. Now all that remains far behind childhood, the need for safety still remains, and those who understand this and understand the need for such a house. It recreates a magical place, almost mysteriously, a small place, cozy, warm and quiet. Located in a quiet, almost ideal landscape, surrounded by nature and away from the bustle of big cities, my dream house would be a piece of heaven, that I would withdraw from time to time with the family, husband and our child to recharge our batteries. I can not stay away from civilization and technology, but for vacations and holidays, I would like to have one story house, where he always found warmth, intimacy, romance, tranquility and simplicity.

At times I wish I could go back to the simpler times when you could walk or ride horses to friends even if they are a couple of miles away, and still feel safe. The house looks like a dream home to me.
