What can you say about ORGAN DONATION?

So let's look at it this way: say you know you're about to die in an hour but some of your organs are still functional and may still be used for transplant to the dying patient in the hospital room next to yours. A representative approaches you telling you could donate an organ say the heart or the kidney. Would you be willing to give it? Would you donate an organ? If it happened to me, I would. I think donating an organ is one of the best ways to bring an end to ones' life, as we can share part of our entire life's blessing to other people who are in need. I know som religions forbid such an act, but in mine it's OK and I'm glad about it. Please share your thoughts on this.

I believe that organ donation is a good benefit to life. It helps someone who is need more than we can ever know. So many lives are enriched and blessed because someone cared to donate an organ. This is something that should be encouraged. life is precious so we should not waste it.

@sender621: That is very true...I believe that one of the most important skills we must have to be a better man is to have empathy - the feeling of being in other person's shoes...Perhaps it is one of the soft skills that is lacking in the world nowadays, thus justifying the reality happened before our eyes right now - people killing each other and many more bad things that happens to mankind... Nevertheless, I believe we are created by God to help each other, and to help others to appreciate life is something that you cannot do without a sincere heart...Donating your organ is no nonsense thing, and that action I believe is something God wants men to learn - learning how to share... Have a nice day!

Your right. I can't imagine that their major victims are those children in the depressed areas. Organ donation is a voluntary thing to do and not getting the lives of others and selling their organ.

@visavis: What happened in your place is very harsh, my friend...It is sad that some of the people nowadays are blinded by money and for that very reason they are willing to do almost anything, and unfortunately organ selling is one of them ...They took advantage of those innocent people and gain profit from that, and I believe that is simply unforgivable... I hope your government will take immediate action and enforce better law against those opportunist, or rather criminal...I hope that will not happen in my country - it scares me out of my skin...

I will consider donating my organ to someone really deserving.I don't know the beliefs of others but if we die , there's no more use anymore for our body as it will just deteriorate and eventually turn into dust. It is the spirit must stay intact...no one can take it away from us as it is the very essence of our existence, not the human body. (^_^)

I am an organ donor. I did tell to my family about it and hope they have no objection towards it. I think that is the last good deed we could do to save others.

I simply see it as a choice and or preference. There are some religions that are against it also that I know of. I have not made up my mind yet and have given it a bit of thought but not sure if I will yet or not. I often wonder though that perhaps it can save a life so I will think on it a bit further.

I have been thinking about this already for quite sometime. I do want my organs to be donated should i die. I want somebody's life to be saved by my organ and make him happy by having it. I think it would be nice if you die and have given a part of you to somebody. However, i just have one request - make it known to the recipient that i was the one who gave it to him and would like to be included in their prayers always.

I have my driver's license set up for me to be an organ donor if something should happen to me. I do not mind giving someone else life when I am gone.

@stephcjh: Good to hear that coming out from you...It is simply the better way to life your after life world, knowing that you help people out on the way there...I believe we have nothing to lose, so it is better to gain something that we can boast to God when we are 'there'... Have a nice day!

I signed up to be an organ donor when I was younger. As someone said, when we die, we won't need them anymore. One can either let them go to waste or let someone who will greatly benefit from getting one organ or another to the point of saving their lives.

Organ donation is the best way to help an ailing man who may survive if the diseased organ can be replaced by the same organ from a deceased person. It is very popular in developed countries. India in spite of being a third world country is not lagging far behind the developed countries, especially if cornea donation is concerned.

I think organ donation is a noble cause. It feels good that a part of you lives long before you had gone and that somebody's life had benefited from it. I still need to get a donor card but I have already expressed my wishes for organ donation to my husband.

I would definitely agree to do that if I knew that my gesture would save another,I wouldn't hesitate for a second and I think it would be a way to die with a peaceful mind knowing that because of me another person will enjoy more days on this Earth.I think this should be the right attitude regardless of any religious interdictions.

@polaris77: I believe I have to agree with you here...I also think that thise attitude should be the right example of attitude regardless of religion, but still some of us has different belief so to say that we can ignore religion in making this thing suitable for all is not the wisest step... It does not matter what religion you are, but what really matter is that you can contribute to the society without abandoning your religion...

I'm on a registry that says I gave permission for my organs to be donated. It says it right on my license so that they know, in case something happens to me. There is no reason I need my organs after I die, so why care about it? Although, they work very fast to get your organs. My boyfriend's grandfather passed away two years ago and we were sitting in the hospital, still grieving, and they kept calling us. Wanting to know if they could have this or that. I understand they have to work fast but it's not very fun to get the phone call, "Can we have his eyes?" 20 minutes after he's passed.

Yes, I would. I've carried a donor card for years, and also I made sure my close relatives know that I would want to donate my organs. Anything they can use, they can have. What a lovely memorial it would be, to have people live on instead of die because of something you gave them. If you would want to donate your organs, letting your next of kin know your wishes is important. It saves them a lot of upset if they don't have to guess what you would have wanted.

Although I have marked my driver's license as me being willing to be an organ donor, I don't know if the medical community would accept my organs since I have had cancer. If they are willing to take my organs, I am willing to give them. I won't be using them after I am gone. Unfortunately, it seems like so many times such things get lost in the shuffle when a person is dying and the organs are lost. I just hope when the time comes, that they are able to use at least some of my organs. Thanks for bringing this up!

I have organ donor listed on my drivers license. I have a disability, and they don't know what causes it or what effects it may have on my organs. So I don't know if any of my organs will be viable. If I don't need them anymore and they can be used, why not donate them to someone who needs them?
