The new assignment system

What does everyone think of Helium's new assignment system now the first payments are coming through? I've been busy with other things, so I haven't written much, except for some contest articles when the assignments hit problems during the first couple of days. Today I received my first upfront payment - or should we be calling them incentives now? Anyway, it's the first one I wrote, and it was purchased, so I'm happy. However, my revenue share earnings have taken a hit, and it doesn't look as if I'll be able to earn so much from the new system. This isn't a rant, by the way - I'll give it time to prove itself. What do you think of the new assignment system? Have you had any articles purchased or rejected? Do you think it will last longer than Helium Marketplace? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I just saw Binthu's latest discussion. I think we both do it better than she does, actually.

I have only written 5 or 6 articles on helium since the last change and I noticed a definate drop in revenue share then. The new assignment system looks better then the last changes and I understand suggested titles can become paid assignments without directly approaching the editor in charge of a channel which is a definate improvement. I have so far wriiten 1 article under the new assignment systems and it is still in progress 5 days later so will have to wait and see, they certainly need to improve the filters to find assignments. So overall so far my opinion is an improvement over the last change but not as good, rewarding or relaxed as the previous version (I write now and again for fun and a outlet along with a small reward, deadlines certainly detract from this as does having your topics predetermined) Did you not notice a significant drop in revenue share with the last change Sandra?

Hello, Arioch. I agree with everything you say about the last revamp. Although I did pretty well out of it - my average earnings per article were comparable with the old upfront system - I couldn't write so many articles, so I didn't make the same amount of money each month. As for revenue share, don't get me started on that! Before the first change, I was pulling in $2 - $3 per day. Now I have around 100 more articles posted, and my revenue share is down to $1.50 per day. I'm not happy about that. However, I am optimistic about the new changes. I still write for Helium in preference to other sites, as I do feel they are trying to get better deals for the writers.
