Confession online

I got sick in the past Holy Week. This stopped me from doing my usual activities during Holy Week, even confession I was not able to do. I only stayed home for a couple of days. Holy Week for would not be complete without confession. I feel that it is fine to do Holy Week practices, but it is much better if you are also have this sort of cleansing within, and for me i can do it thru confession. But since i was sick then, i resort to Confession online. So i search the internet and I was able to log-on to one of the Confession online. There you will just click in the choices the kind of sin you are going to confess, and you will do it one after the other. After you have confess the first chosen sin and the internet gives you absolution, you can go back to main menu and click another sin you want to confess. After I did this, i felt that I didn't seem to have undergone confession. Something is missing, or I should say, nothing really happens. That confession online did not seem to fully cleanse me. It is entirely different when you do confession personally to a priest. I guess that is exactly what is missing that "personal" encounter with the Lord thru the priest.

I guess I understand your feeling. Confessing online does not require speaking, it's just like doing a multiple choice test and there you get the result. However, when you do it in person, you have to speak it out in front of another person and that needs courage. Moreover you do not know what the predict would be for your absolution.

To have courage is really what it takes when you carry-out something most important in your life, such as this confession, and with what I experience from this Online Confession, i realized I definitely cannot exchange personal confession with that of the web. Thank you so much for sharing with me. God bless us all.

Well, you couldn't help it at the time because you were ill. Maybe you can do it later when you get better and God will always understand.

I am not Catholic so I cannot tell you what you should do, but if this confession is usually done with a priest then that is what I would do; not leave the cleansing of your soul to an online fake priest; anyone can setup a website and claim to be anything they want to be. It is better you be sure your soul is safe, don't you think.

I think you are a good Catholic because this is bothering you so much. I am sure you will continue in your faith and do the right thing when it come to confessing your sins. Take care,

For some people, including me, going through the experience online is a lot easier than confessing to a priest (who probably has a lot worse to tell!). And, if it becomes a choice between confessing online and not confessing at all, it is ok to choose the easier path. But you have to be careful. You never know who is really at the other end of the computer. The experience you related sounds totally fake to me.
