If you could TURN BACK TIME, which part of history would you want to WITNESS?

I'm sure we've all had time machine fantasies and because of that I am giving this discussion. What if there was in fact a time machine but it's functionality is limited - you can turn back time but what you can ONLY WITNESS what's going on, sort of like a free seat to a historical movie of choice. It's hard to answer if you only have one choice so let's give ourselves plenty, guys. I would sure want to witness how the Wonders of the World were built, along with Macchu Picchu, the Nazca Lines, the Great Wall of China and the Stonehenge. I would like to see the match between Lapu Lapu and Ferdinand Magellan. I'd like to be at the middle of the Red Sea when it parted. I'd like to swim beside a fish while Jesus was walking on water. And I would like to watch ..... a lot more. LOLs. Whew. That would be centuries of travel! How about you? What will you watch?

Well, being a history buff, I don't think I can pick a particular historical event. That would be too many to mention. Apart from the local history of my country, I want to watch how exactly are world was shaped by different events in other countries, particularly in Europe. I had been fascinated by Europe's history that people actually think I'm more versed in it compared to my country's history. As I said, picking one would be a difficult choice for me. I'm a big fan of every civilization there is and every decisive battle there is from the ancient times to the evolution of the modern world. History gives us glimpses of the living at a particular era but actually witnessing it is the icing to my birthday cake.

History indeed is fascinating jeanne. Like you I have this continental inclination to history. I like better reading in Asian history than in my own country's specific history.

I would prefer to witness the earliest days immediately after the evolution of human beings so that I can guess some idea about the origin of man.

If I was able to survive after witnessing it, I would like to see when the earth froze over. I would also like to have seen the dinosaurs also.

I would have liked to be in the times of Noah. Life back then was really cool and simple. People had all the days to enjoy their lives with their loved ones. Today, all we do is watch TV, play video games, work, work and work. Days go really fast.

I didn't thought for that. I think It would be very dangerous for me and I probably would be scared. Yes It is good advice to learn some information before we jump in time machine. Your advice would be worth If I ever will travel in time machine.

and what about if they caught you in the arena and invite you to one of their contestant for a gladiatorial fight? remember, boxing and wresting starts there, the origin.... it is important for you to know some Martial Arts before entering to time machines just in case.......

I would like to travel back in time where Jesus lift the heavy crucifix to Nazareth, to take pictures and streaming videos until my memory card is full, to bring solid information of what is the true image of Jesus if it is like the one we saw at the paintings of the Vatican roofs. But I must be careful of what my action to do is because if surrounding people there saw my gadget then they will automatically miss-interpret me as sorcery or witch or black magic because of the LCD that my camera displays.

Oh I would love to see how the ancient Indus valley people lived, the famous Mumtaz Mahal, the romance between her and Shahjahan that led to construction of Taj Mahal. Meet Shakespeare, Einstein. Travel to Egypt see the building of Pyramids, travel to Africa see the diamond beaches...Travel with Columbus to see the world. So much is there to see and meet, may be have Picasso paint me too...he would have done it so cheap too back then and leave that paining for my grand kids now..wow

Well the first thing that came in my mind was the Bill and Ted movie where they traveled back in time for a history test or something :D haha. Back on being serious now, If I could travel back in time I'd surely like to visit most of the ancient times of my country (Greece), well... except the parts where there were wars in it :P

Haha. That's an interesting idea! =P Hmm... I can't think of anything particular right now but maybe some moment of scientific discovery or something... a 'Eureka!' moment. =P I DON'T WANT TO witness any wars or stuff like that. That's for sure. =P

Yes. if we can turn back time--then turn it to 1976 -- the time I was young and got married and I was living with my parents. it is not possible. we can only move ahead and not go back. 8th august 2012 is getting over and can never be got back. we are all become one day more older.

Experience the barter change with chinese. Enjoy the life of having our own culture without the influence of foreign countries. Native Pinoy pride!

i'll rather go to the time of Jesus when he was 18 years of age, because i just want to know if where did he hide maybe in a social networking site.... hehehehe because he is not found in the bible when he's on that age..... and after that, i want to go then to the time's on what reason does the extinction of the dinosaurs, and climates of that time are very fresh, but i am aware of the prehistoric mosquitoes also..... i just be sure to myself before i travel, i have to bring food, medicine, a Japanese Samurai Sword and an AK-47 with 10 magazines just in case.....

If I could turn back time then I'd go witness the rule of dinosaurs and see the big bang if possible..

With age, I have accepted that it is the best for me that I was born here and now. I wouldn´t even change my own life events because I feel that we are here to learn something so that´s the way it has to be. When I was very young, I wanted to be an explorer at the Amazone River. Now a feel the best is to watch the Discovery Channel and other such TV shows. Many years ago, I was asked at an exam at the University whether I would like to live at Aristotle´s Greece. I said "yes, but..." provided that I wasn´t a woman or a barbarian. At that time none of them were provided with souls. I was both as I´m a woman and of barbarian blood mostly. I think we have to check all the issues that come along with other History periods. I like antibiotics around, just in case.

For me I would just want to see when the Red Sea actually turned red haha. Or maybe just watch Shakespeare's actual play of Romeo and Juliet to see how it was back then.
