having a college degree is a pride. It was been shared for so many years that it is the key towards having a decent work. Maybe. But I have known several people who have been successful without finishing college. I wonder if this idea is becoming a myth. What can you say?

I also belief that Bachelor's degree can help you to have a better job someday for somehow.. it serve as your ID pass to enter in some big companies that you dreamed of.. Also it helps you to earn more money because of your attainment... It is one of your qualification to have a better job someday, When you apply for a job, the first thing that an employer ask to you is your educational attainment, and if you really qualified for that kind of job.. Sometimes people become successful in their lives not because of their educational attainment but because of perseverance and determinations they have to have a better future even they do not have a degree of study.. They are serious in working and really strive their best to have a good life someday.. They are good in tactics and other practical approach in life, even they have not studied and have a degree they can have a good job sometimes better with the others.. If you have a bachelor\s degree but you are lazy and no plan to strive to life and being just dependent with others, it is useless that you just studied for nothing,,, Degree of studies must we partner with perseverance and willingness to learn more in life...

I agree with you that the importance of a degree depends on the person. Some people are born to the academe while others are 'street smarts' or people who don't need formal education to be successful in job and in life. In my country, education is considered as a gift. As the elders would put it, education is a gift that cannot be taken. However, the sad thing is that even though there are many students who graduated with their degrees, jobs are very hard to come by. It's either you stop schooling or finish with a job without any relation to their educational attainment. Maybe that's the reason why people don't pursue college too much. Though a bachelor's degree is the minimum educational attainment in my country, sometimes it's not even enough to land a job.

Well, since we're both in the Philippines, you should know that in order for us to land a decent job in a company, we'll need to have a BS degree. The qualifications for a rank and file position include a BS degree. However, if you're planning to work outside the country, what you need is skills. So, vocational courses especially from TESDA is a better option. Of course, if you're going to start a business of your own, what you really need is confidence and a good sense of running a business.

if you ate a talented lot then u need no degree, the world will recognize you by your talent. But for a normal person like you and me a Bachelor degree is a bare minimum in this professional environment. For any professional job a at least a bachelor degree is a must. more so in countries like india where i reside. In U.S its a bit different if you have some real talent or liking towards something you can excel.

i guess you are right...but there are really places like here in the Philippines that one is ridiculed and cannot find a decent work if it has no degree...it is quite impossible for the person to hold a position in a company, for example, if they don't have...those with no college degree end up as construction worker or janitor or some other blue collar jobs..

I am working in a recruitment company right now and i can say that a bachelor degree is not important anymore. You must have enough knowledge, communication skills and initiative to get a good job. I encountered so many applicants who are graduate of a 4 and 5 years Bachelor's degree and some of them are Cumm Laude and Sumacumlaude but what happened? Most of them are jobless, most of them are working in a department store, supermarket and factories, they are working as a sales person, janitor, coin segregation and dishwashers. I do not judge the kind of job that they had. My point here is, you just have to have a brain and strong personality to get a good job and not a Bachelors Degree.

Well, it is a practical reason that most of the people succeed in landing a job they'd wanted because they have degree. Thing is, when you have a degree, employers tend to perceive you as someone who's competent enough to handle the responsibilities that needs to be managed. I am a degree holder, and I would say that it helped me obtaining the job that I want. But a degree is not all there is. Of course, it's not just about the papers and documents that you could show. The real game starts when you're in the actual practice and not just learning the theories. About being successful without even finishing college. Well, a lot did succeed. Because it's not the degree that would take you to success. It's you yourself. And if you want to succeed nowadays, I guess a degree could help. Success might not be limited to obtaining a Bachelor's Degree, but at some point and for some people like me, Bachelor's Degree is a great help to land a good and decent job. If you are wondering about this things and having the dilemma whether to continue your education or not. Then let me urge you to continue your studies. Make and do good at it. Learn from every opportunity of learning. You'd be able to use some of them in the future. God bless you. Have a happy life! :) chuyins

A Bachelor's Degree tells an employer that you have set a goal and achieved it. In many cases it will get you in the door but you have to have something to back up the Degree. It is a screening tool for employers.

Academic degree was limited to support the evidence that we have the ability to think academically. In fact, there are many people who succeeded despite having no college degree but in certain cases they can not take decisions like the decision taken by people who have the academic ability

I can say that the state of education today is not what it used to be. We have so lowered our academic standards for political reasons that, in my opinion, a college education is almost worthless. Yes, the world says you must buy a degree in order to succeed, but that's not necessarily so. So many succeed simply because they work hard and persevere. Today's college graduates not only have a substandard education, but can't get decent jobs anyway.

It will take a long time for the world to realise that a degree is not at all necessary for anyone to make a success of one's life. And nowadays every one goes for a post graduate degree and then gets specialised and by the time all this happens the incumbent will be around 26 or 27. It is ridiculous for someone to look for a job at that late age. There is so much one can learn online rather than spend time in the portals of a college but who will do the telling?

Being successful or not does not require any college degree. It really depends on what a person is as a whole to be able to spot opporturnaties and work towards a goal. I would say luck and timing have something to do with it as well. You know, being at the right place at the right time and with the right people is important. It is a mix of different critieria. For the average guy, a Bachelor's Degree is really a minimum in today's society if one needs to be doing just okay. It does provide the first stepping stone to your career.

well,my friend ,it's not that important to get a Bachelor's degree.and the degree is a certificate of proving your ability to think professionally and academically,it's not easy for everyone to doing critical thinking most of the time.so do research and studying for degree is not easy and it's more difficult to make achievement in this field while success is everywhere and sometimes it seems no relationship between degree and success, coz success involves too many factors like chance, hard work, support and help from others and inspiration...therefore if you like your major and strive to do some jobs in your fields maybe you are not successful yet but you will contribute a lot and someone will see your effort....
