How to deal with A.D.D.?

I did some research yesterday and I just learned that I really do have ADD. I do get distracted too easily, I feel like I have the same attention span as of a seven year old. I do my best to focus on just one thing but then I get restless and ten million things rush into my head like they're late for a certain schedule! I am not really officially diagnosed with it, but most of the symptoms, like 8 of the 10 symptoms, are very relative to me and when I learned about it, it came to me as a shock. There's so many things I want to. Like right now,I thought of reading a book, but then I caught myself going on a DVD marathon while writing on my diary, and halfway through the end of what I'm watching, I had it paused to listen to a meditation music and post a discussion here. Gee. This is a bit frustrating. I really just want to focus on thing at a time, and believe me it's not the lack of will power. Now, how do I do it? I figured about the vitamins, the exercise, the plenty of sleep.. I tried to do an exercise while reading a book, for goodness sake. I'm a few weeks away from school and barely finished any of the stuff that I really wanted to finish this vacation.. what do I do? and another random realization. the quote 'live every day as if it's your last' could be really frustrating for an enthusiastic dreamer with A.D.D. hm, so what are your thoughts on this?

Hi hannanable78, you seem to be a bit more hard on yourself than you should. I think before accepting that you have ADD, you should see a doctor and get confirmation from him. Its just that you may have more energy than you know what to do with it. One simple thing that can help you calm down is try some meditation. There are plenty of videos on internet that will help you teach yourself good meditation techniques and breathing techniques as well. Learn to focus on your breathing, which will help you calm down and improve your focus and attention span. Best of luck!

Hi! Why not see a doctor first? It's so easy to self diagnose and unless you see an expert on this, you will keep on wondering and questioning about your condition. As we have read on the warning in the internet, whatever is written ther e on the symptoms, treatment, etc., is not meant to replace medical advice. It is just there to guide us and help us explain to our doctor when we seek medical care. God bless!

Hi, I have heard about the A.D.D.Pepole who got the A.D.D seems like they are so energetic...but if it makes you even finish one thing completely, that will so terrible... Go to see a doctor then ,I don't think it as a disease,,just like a pshchological obstacle..and I'm sure it's easy to overcome it..

Ok let me just tell you do not self diagnose yourself, I have ADHD and am clinically proven, there are tests to truly determine if you have it or not. Sometimes people are just too scatter brained not ADD or ADHD. If you do have if your doctor or psychiatrist will help you out with certain pills that will help. ADD and ADHD are created by the transmitters of epinephrine and dopamine, yes sleep impacts focus, as well as exercise and if that does not help (exercising the right amount of time per week with right heart rate during that times) then you will want to look at pills which I am on that do help.

A.D.D. is something that a lot of people could diagnose themselves with. I know for a period I thought I had it after looking up symptoms on the internet, and then I realized it was just because I was under a lot of stress at the time. Ask a doctor!
