A cat rescue journal, day 3.

The injured leg. - Looks like 2 puncture marks on her leg, and she's bitten off the fur around them.

I've been getting calls from the rescue today wanting to know how the kitty is doing. I was at work all day, got home pretty late, so I didn't get to see her. But when I got home, I had to clean the litter box again, she's really using it. They think she has worms as her tummy is still upset, so they will be bringing some deworming stuff on Sunday. I got a picture of her leg last night, but tonight she's in a really bad mood, and wont let me near her at all. I guess it's a bad day for everyone, myself included, so I can't blame her for being upset. She's hissing more than she was when I first brought her in, but I guess she'll be fine tomorrow, at least I hope so. She's still eating and drinking so that's a good sign. The poor thing really needs a bath since she was sitting in her filth in the litter box, but there's no way that will happen any time soon. I just hope that when the rescue people do come by, they can tell me what it looks like.

I guess it is good that she is using the litter box. Does she still sleep in it? If so, you might put a second box in there and see if she will sleep in the clean box instead of the dirty one. I hope that you can get her tummy feeling better. It is not good for her to be in that kind of shape for very long. Is the infection on her leg getting worse? I hope that she keeps eating and drinking.

It doesn't look like the leg issue is changing, but I haven't been able to get a good look at it lately. She doesn't always sleep in the box now, I put in a cardboard box today but she hasn't used it yet. I'm hoping that she does though.

Is there a blanket or something in the cardboard box to make it more attractive than the litter box? I hope that she gets better soon. Keep up with the updates!

Kris you are doing the best you can until she will let you handle her. I wonder if the food is too rich for her as she has been on her own for so long. It is a good idea to get her wormed, though. One of my kitties had a huge tapeworm. He had been a stray.
