Swimming is the best exercise. Different strokes to perform. But, the more we often swim there is the tendency that our eyes becomes exhausted. Blindness will be the result if it is too much. Be careful.

Uh? Swimming = eye strain = blindness?? I am sorry but I can't follow. As far as I recall swimming causes an increase in body temperature, metabolism and blood flow. This causes the cells in the body to be rejuvenated much faster and that includes the eye cells. So instead of causing eye strain it, exercise is to prove of more benefit.

I agree with you! I'm a swimmer and I practise it 7times a week and sometimes even more times... some times we woke up at 5 a.m. to do some exercise in the swimming pool and practise... I do swimming since I had 4years old, and nothing bad happened in my eyes... Yes, the chemical product that water in the swimming pool have, make you sometimes cry, but it's essential water has that...

It sounds to be very terrible. But it seems that most swimmers don't have this problem, does it? By anyway, wearling the goggles is a good idea when you are swimming. You can still see in the water and your eyes won't feel uncomfortable after the swimming. I love China

I know that if the chlorine and the salt from the water get into my eyes, it will make my eyes irritable. I don't like to put my face underneath the waters at all. I prefer to stay and swim when I am not down into the pool or beach water. I did not know that swimming too much could cause blindness though.

I don't think so, because if it was then most Olympic swimmers would have been blind. I hope you can give us a link on this topic. I haven't found anything on the internet that says we can go blind by swimming. It usually would irritate our eyes but not to the point of getting blind.

I have not heard of this before. Are you able to provide additional information regarding this matter? I'm a little concern since I swim a couple of times a week to exercise and to relieve stress.

I've heard of it before. The eye strain could apply in most swimming pools because of the chlorine or chloride, whatever you may call that. True. The water could really cause strain to the eyes since most of us (or is it just me and my friends ) don't use goggles in the pool. I also remembered the swimmers in my class during grade school are all wearing spectacles in high school!

Hello there myleZrl! Well I take swimming classes. And so I swim a lot. Well yes sometimes swimming can cause eye strain, but I haven't heard anyone getting blind because of it. Well to prevent eyestrain then one should use goggles. Since I started using goggles my eyes are safe from chlorinated water and therefore I don't experience eyestrain anymore.
