Move over Natalie Portman, THOR is mine!

Okay, okay, Natalie, don't get me wrong, but THOR is mine. I had claimed him long ago, as my club gripping mighty god of thunder hero, all clad in nothing but a loincloth. True, I enjoyed Casper, Betty Boop, Gumby, Pop-eye, and Tom & Jerry, but THOR, he was my prince, all muscles and that ever titillating selfless heroism that makes him human, and thus, my prince... One cannot imagine how excited I was as THOR came to my life, forty years after, via that silver screen. And I watched him lured by this girl Portman, you Natalie, all sweet and smart, Hmpf, please go back to Anakin, He is all yours. Ha ha! I stayed for a second screening for my THOR, and my daughter who gladly put up with my childish whims, suddenly said, THOR is now my favorite mighty hero! Whaaack! What was that again? Now I realize that THOR has come to conquer all the damsels on earth, young and old! My THOR, my first lesson on mythology! No offense to all the Greek and Roman mythical gods and heroes, THOR was my only dashing mighty man! Okay, okay Natalie, my daughter also said you look great by THOR's side. I will not contest that even if I think it is a debatable claim. Shucks, my only consolation at this point is that I am keeping THOR in the deep recesses of my heart. You Marvel makers, don't you hurt him in anyway...

I totally understand your attraction to Thor. He is super fine and I also want him all for mine. I really liked Natalie Portman for Thor just beacause she is also pretty and a good actress. She made me believe her character.

The reason why I do not like Natalie so much for Thor is because I had seen her in so many movies and her tone of voice, facial make-up, etcetera, are so much familiar I couldn't set my mind that she is just an ordinary scientist in Thor. In fact, she didn't look like a researcher. She was more of a typical girl next door....

Hiya eileen, Eileen you would not be alone in feeling that way about Thor the mighty Thor. I love Superman and Spiderman too. Also I loved "Americas Greatest Hero" (grin) with lovely William Katt with his Red Suit and comical ways of flying into the washing lines and Television things sorry can´t spell it at the moment that is what speaking Spanish does for you. So while I do not take them seriously I love to watch those Films and "dream" just for a while that Heroes like that really exist. Who is to say that I cannot dream about any of them? Have to say coming down to earth a bit my favourite is still Robert Taylor in "Ivanhoe" the original version. I only have to see those beautiful blue eyes and I am off on Hero travel again. Of course I know it´s only a Film. What a shame he and Elizabeth Taylor did not feel the same about each other in real life. Maximus is my other favourite Hero and William Wallace they are more down to earth but still they have many Fans across the World too. Looking forward to watching "Ivanhoe" again soon has no one ever seen this Film? xxx

Wow, you sure love films of epic proportion. I cannot argue about the William Wallace story. Such legend belongs to the brave of heart. And Maximus the Gladiator tells us of a story we must hold forever in our mind... These stories are not for simple entertainment. These stories make us ask questions such... are we brave enough to make a stand for our land and our people?...Do we have what it takes to make a difference in our one shot at life?.... Very heavy, Angel, I am somehow glad though that I belong to this time and age...

I was never a comic book fanboy as a Kid,but I've been catching up on the worlds of Marvel Comics with their Superhero Movie releases in recent Years (X-Men,Spiderman,Daredevil,Elektra)..I'd been following the progress towards the Thor Movie with the little easter egg scenes at the end of the Iron Man Movies' Credits, showing the discovery of Thor's Hammer,Mjolnir,(Meow Meow,as Jane called it!)on Earth that the THOR Movie then opened with..We saw agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. meet with Tony Stark, and glimpses of Samuel L.Jackson as SHIELD Boss Nick Fury, who forms the link between these superheroes teaming up..Apparently,SLJ is/was signed up for 7 movies in this role, and so far, that's 2 cameos with the Iron Man Franchise, and 1 with Thor..getting these people together should be interesting! Keep Watching!

Of all the Marvel heroes, Thor is the least popular to me...until I saw this movie. It's a great movie for kids and adults alike, me and my kids enjoyed it so much. I have a vague memory of his story from my childhood days, watching it unfold on the big screen makes it so real and surreal at the same time. And Chris Hemsworth fits the role to a T. And Natalie Portman? loved her since her Padme' Amidala role, and I'm still loving her in this movie.

I will not argue about Natalie. She is a fine actress. But see that Darcy sidekick? I like her better as Jane...

I didn't watch that movie, but i saw the interviews and trailer. I admit THOR looks good and as real as he possibly can. His size, muscles and facial expression belongs to the thunder GOD in the books. IF i get a chance to watch the movie, he shall be my focus than anything else. I'm not interested in Natalie portman too because i have enough of her. It's time for the MEN to shine.

Haha. I think the Asatruars have a greater claim on him. to be honest. I enjoyed the film, but it annoyed me that they felt a need to get in a line about how "primitive" people would have "thought" they were Gods. now that's a bit blasphemous, to be honest. I have many good, close friends who worship the Norse Gods, and they are not primitive, and I'd never, even though I do not worship the Norse Pantheon myself, feel a need to say they are not Gods. it's not respectful to a whole culture.

Galena, I actually do not know anything about Norse Myth except for the story of Thor. But myth is mythical, and although I love mythology, fiction exists only in my dreams...

I never got into comics, like Thor. Any comics at all! At least comic books! I have watched comics made into cartoons like the Super Friends and have seen some episodes of the X-Men. I am fasinated with Wolverine! Of course I grew up with Scooby-Doo,Tom and Jerry, the Looney Tunes,Pop-Eye and the Flintstones! Expect for Superman,I have not seen movies made from comic books. I might like to watch the Spiderman movies, though!

Hmmm, I was a child of the comics world, and I am so glad that movie makers made my comic world real by adapting the superhero stories into film. I have twice the entertainment in my lifetime, ha ha! Thanks DC. Thanks Marvel. I am waiting for Archie...

HI eileen leyva: I really enjoy reading your discussion introduction. What can I say. It seems that Thor broke too many female hearts after the release of this fil which is actually a great one. My little sister is one of them. Besides of this, I have watched this film and I can say is great. ALVARO

Time was, I know. On many occasions, I also find myself reminiscing the good old carefree days of childhood. Thanks for the duck lessons. Now I remember those three cantankerous ducks ...

Scrooge McDuck was named after Ebenezer. He was the uncle of Donald Duck or maybe the brother and the uncle of Huey, Duey and Louy. He had a huge money bin where he used to swim in his money and was constantly harassed by the Beagle Boys trying to dig in and steel his cash. My other favorite was The Phantom who used to campaign for good in the jungles of Africa. The good old days of worry free child hood.

I did not watch THOR yet as Thor is not my favorite hero character. If you say that it is worth to watch then I probably should watch this film too~

I didn't see this because Natalie Portman is just an annoying presence to me these days. She was once my favorite actress but now she's just hogging movies. I know it's not her fault if she gets asked to do all these films but still, can't she take a break or go put her energy into law school or something?

She isn't my choice for Jane either. I would have someone not too exposed an actress to assume the role of Jane...

yeah, there are so many talented actors out there, it's not fair to have the same people taking the major roles.
