OMG! Just last week, i have eaten halo-halo, thrice. I love eating it with salty chips to contradict the sweetness. And today i am again eating one! I worry about my weight, but what the heck - it's not all year round that halo-halo is nice to eat!

Same here simplyd. I love Razon's halo-halo, I can't resist it. The three ingredients plus the smooth and supple shaved ice, so delicious. Halo-halo is one of the popular desserts here in the Philippines, maybe because Philippines is a tropical country. I think, all Filipino have tasted one. If there is someone who was not able to taste it, maybe it is about time to buy one. :)

Razon's? Where's that? What's its ingredients? The best halo-halo in our place here in Bicol is DJC. It's so delicious that Manileños or people from other place would really rave about it one they have tasted it. It's for 65 pesos for the big glass. A bit costly but it's worth it. It has chunks of leche plan, macapuno, ube, minatamis na saba , gelatin , langka and beans topped with grated cheese.

Ah, Razon's has only 3 ingredients. Well, i guess that's delicious too. Now i know what to do if ever i go to Manila, eat at Razon's in Shopwise Cubao. DJC has its branches in Legazpi City. Just ask for Gaisano, where it has a stand at its food court. I am very, very sure you will like it, more than Razon's.

Razon's Halo-Halo started in Guagua, Pampanga. There is also Razon's in Shopwise Cubao, SM Fairview and Market Market. The three ingredients are as follows: macapuno, saging and leche flan. I think it costs 85 pesos but I am pretty sure, you will like it. How I wish I can go to Bicol and try DJC.

So right! Last summer, I have eaten much and haven't cared about my weight. Now, I'm busy trying to lose weight. That's pretty fine as long as you're aware of the consequences and make the effort of making solutions to it.

What about this summer, haven't you eaten halo-halo yet? Eat one now because the summer will soon be gone as the weather bureau have forecast. Yes, i do compensate my eating halo-halo , with only a fruit for dinner.

Halo-halo - Sweet halo-halo
I love halo-halo too but never did I try eating it with salty chips. I think that is a great idea. The salty chips will give the halo-halo a new twist. Thanks for sharing this tip. I have some sweets in my fridge so I think I will try making my own halo-halo now. The weather is quite hot so I think this is the best snack I could ever have today.

I misunderstood you dear. Nevetheless I think it is better to eat the two alternately so they still retain their original taste. I'll just let them mix up on my tongue. I wonder how the chips could retain crunchiness also if added to the halo-halo.

are you thinking that i mean putting the chips in the halo-halo? No, it's eating chips, alternately while eating halo-halo. It subdues the sweetness of the halo-halo and their taste compliments each other. Hmm, but maybe putting the chips on top will be a nice idea too?

Hmm, i like that knicker bucker of yours too. It seems to be so delicious too and healthy because it's a combination of fruit bits! Here in our place , halo-halo abounds. Some people always have their halo-halo stand every summer. They maybe simple ones, but they are delicious too, not to mention it being cheaper than those in the malls.

wOW, thanks for the invitation. Well, halo-halo business is good during summer. I guess, the people in your place have other businesses they are busy with. Yes, Max's and Chowking has expensive halo-halo though. But i guess, at least once this summer if justifiable.

Salty chips with halo-halo? Hmmm I have never tried that but I will probably experiment later. I love halo-halo especially during summer when the weather outside is humidly hot. Other desserts I like includes sago-gulaman, iced corn, iced banana, buko salad and ice cream. But I am not that young anymore so I eat in moderation and I actually prefer them prepared using brown sugar or muscovado.

Too much intake of refined sugar is bad for health especially for diabetic and older people. Drinking lots of water after consuming them wont washes them away from the body. But yeah, a little sinful treat once in a while wont harm.

The halo-halo at Chowking has three sweet bananas, the halo-halo at Goldilocks has kaong, the halo-halo at Max is sweetened all the more with sugar. I also like the buko pandan jelly and the black gulaman. Those crashed ice are so soothing for the searing heat! And yea, my weight is tipping the scale. Danger alert!

I remember during my younger years, there were lots of halo-halo sellers in the neighborhood during summer and every afternoon, it was halo-halo that I craved for my snack. And mind you, it really add some pounds in my weight! This summer , I think I was able to eat halo-halo around four times and it was from Chowking, Goldilocks and Max's. It was good because I always ice cream as toppings aside from the usual leche flan and ube jam.

Well, try Mang Inasal's halo-halo also. It's cheaper but it's delicious! Yes, you are right, i gained weight this summer because of the halo-halo and other cool treats! So, i started my exercise since last last week. I hope my weight will go down by the fourth week. Halo-Halo, well i really cannot resist it. I just have to exercise vigorously whenever i have eaten one again.

Hi Dina What is this halo, halo? Guess it is a fast food with sweets and oils. I have been advised not to eat sugar or sweet stuff, but lol, how much can i control? Last evening i ate some indian sweets in a marriage feast, it had the effect, the burning sensation on my soles of feet was more.. Thanks for sharing God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

It's a sweet cold treat that abounds during summer. It is made of crushed ice , with evaporated milk and a bit of sugar. It has bits of leche plan, ube , macapuno, kaong and other available sweet fruits . Sometimes they top it with ice cream or with grated cheese. Then you mix them all with a spoon until they are well blended. You can then eat them to your hearts delight. You can take a look at what Bounce of box 20 attached as an example of a halo-halo. Just be careful though, it might give you again the burning sensation on the soles of your feet.

You're not alone! With the heat and all, I've been eating halo-halo more these days. Not to mention, there is a Chowking branch just across our gate so it's very easy and tempting to eat eat eat. This afternoon, I ordered 3 halo-halos for me and my two sons. I finished mine quickly. I was thinking of buying ice and ingredients to make my own halo-halo at home.

Yes, had i been a stay at home wife, i will make our own halo-halo or maybe make a business out of it, like others do this summer. Chowking though, costs so much. There's a cheap halo-halo stand in my father's house, where my sister does it alongside with other snacks she serve at her snack house. It's delicious and cheap so it's a blockbuster!
• Philippines

Yeah, if only I had more time at home I would also make a business out of halo-halo. by the way, I found food carts outside the school that sell halo-halos and scramble. Cheaper than Chowking but equally cooling.

We have here in our province, a famous halo-halo stand that started from just a small time business. Now, they have branched out to the mall, and people from other places who have tasted it keeps coming back. It has grated cheese on top that gives a blend of sweetness and a bit of saltiness of the cheese.

sweet and cold desserts! - halo halo desserts
It is just about spring here, and we all know that summer is just around the corner. Although it is still a bit cold in the morning, it does turn hot in the afternoons. Just about right for sweet and cold delights! If those desserts are available here, I would certainly be gettin a lot of those too. And maybe a danger to my weight!
