When will this awful trend die already?

Hello fellow mylotters. I am just plain tired of seeing girls walking around in very obvious pajama bottoms and t-shirts. They do not look nice, and in fact many times the shirts look like they should have gone into the rag bin a year ago. All day I see this, and even the school kids are dressed like this. When will this die already? Also, the boys wearing the baggy clothes and pants down to their knees is very annoying to see. I just want to tell them to pull their pants up, or go home and change into something that fits. lol. I know in different parts of the country, or even in different cities, there is a certain style that people tend to wear to be cool and look like everyone else. I'm hoping these styles are only in my region and not all over, but I must ask you if you are seeing young people dressed as I describe? I had hoped the baggy look for boys would be a flash in the pan style but it is not. Have you seen the girls dressed in pajama bottoms and worn out old t-shirts? It is a bit funny when the hair and makeup is done up, yet the clothes look so awful. What styles of clothes do you loath to see?

I have a long list of awful trends that grow as I get older. The baggy clothes looks horrible to me, the young men not properly shaved ( I like a nice beard though), the undies showing, the piercings and tattoos everywhere ( I specially loathe tongue piercings as they make me very nervous). I have become acostumed to those rasta locks (or however they are named) because my 2 eldest grandchildren have had them. The eldest outgrew it and I did a contratulation party. The second kid (16 years old) is still wearing them. I tell him he´ll get lice in his hair. I could go on forever.

I always wonder how those tattooed people, whe they grow old and their skin gets wrinkled, will look. Young slim kids are acceptable, but I´d do some body painting that can be washed away.

Fortunatly my grandchildren have a sense of humor and think that "Grandma is cool". That helps a lot when hinting that I don´t particulary like some of the things they are doing. But I talk to them and listen to them with respect. The hair thing was explained in such a way that I accepted it even if I don´t agree. They said that girls like that better Still I gave THE applause when Daniel cut the disgusting hair.

The tats, especially on women drive me nuts! So many have them. That is funny you had a party for that!

Anything with the underwear showing, be it the baggy pants or girls with their thongs popping up. Ugh.

That used to get on my nerves too but this fashion was short lived thankfully.

Really? Some of the gals around here didn't get the memo that said it's out of fashion. I am happy to hear it is out of fashion at least in your community, that means it will be soon here too!

My gosh, I forgot about the undies showing on the girls. That is quite awful isn't it? What kind of parent lets their child wear such things?

you only have a short time to make a good impression on someone. when people dress like that it shows the world that they dont care about how they look to others which is sad. i never let my kids go out in pj bottoms ever!

Hi. rosegardens. I don't know when this trend will die. Many youngsters find this style of dress very comfortable to wear. I have seen this style of clothing on many people so many of times. Even at my daughter's Head Start School they have signs up near the classroom saying "No Pajamas, in the building." I guess many parents were wearing pajama pants into the building as they are dropping off their kids to school in the mornings. Well I know that wearing pajamas is not suitable inside of a public building.

Wow, I can't imagine having children and dropping them off someplace dressed like that! Goodness gracious.

Everyone's sense of faahion is not the same as the next person in line. some trends that we wish would fade away just seem to to gain in popularity. pajama bottoms and baggy shirts will lose their appeal one day too. then before we realize it, the trend is back and bigger than ever. Some trends will pass on into oblivivion while others jusst get reinvented.

Please don't even think to tell me these awful styles will make a comeback in my lifetime! I can just see me as an old granny saying aloud: that didn't look good 20 years ago, and it looks worse on you now.

Being trendy is the buzz word and those trend setters are to be blamed. I don't like clothes that do not suit an individual. To each his/her own but because certain clothes are in fashion they wear them just to be a part of the 'in' crowd. I don't like those tight clinging pants whatever they are called specially those with bow legs!

Some things do not suit all people, that is for sure. There are a lot of overweight people who wear tight clothes. Ewe! I'm not exactly a supermodel, in fact I can probably be 2, but I try to hide the fat for the sake of others.

I do not mind seeing younger girls in clothes like this, but I hate to go to the grocery store and see adult women in their pajamas. I also hate the baggy pants that they are constantly falling to their knees. As you said, I want to say "Please pull your pants up" to them. I would also like to hand them a belt!

I do wear pj bottoms, but they do look like pants. It doesn't look sloppy and I've gotten compliments on them. lolol! But the ones with the sheep and cats and whatever, with the old shirts, o my gosh. I really want to slap their mothers for allowing them out like that. Have you ever seen the guys with the baggy pants have a belt on at the thigh? That is quite the site. I hate going shopping and seeing people dressed so oddly. If it were 3am, it would be understandable but not during prime time and not when you have been awake all day. The younger generation is not being taught how to present themselves, and that bothers me greatly. Not only in clothing, but it shows in manners and how they speak to one another. It is dreadful.

It looks even worse on the sixty year old Barbie doll lookalikes! Did Barbie ever wear such clothes?
