Education: the easiest course...

Just recently, one of my students asked me if her brother was right in saying that Education is an easy course to take up in college. Personally, I could say yes. Indeed, education is an easy course. Now, does it follow that those who take this course are brainless? If that's how you perceived it, then you have another think coming. But come to think of it, how did I end up being a teacher when all I wanted to do was write? Life, had not been very generous when I was young ( it still not is up to now ) and a college degree back then seemed to be so out of reach due to financial constraints. Until a months after my high school graduation, my mother ordered me to inquire at the nearest state university. An obedient daughter that I was, I went with only half of my heart with me. In the university, I was informed that only two courses are left and still open...namely...engineering and education. I don't like them both. But if I know what's good for myself, I had to choose. Engineering...I'm dead. My mathematical ability would send both the best and the worst mathematics teachers to the nearest tower and scream blue murder once they found out how mathematically disabled I am. The last time I was able to really understand and honestly perform operations on my own was in sixth grade. When Algebra came, everything fell apart. Education...I can't. I can't speak. Not in front of people. I hate being looked at. Now, what? Which is which? If I take up engineering, Math would be with me for 5 years and definitely, I'll be dead by then or have been dropped countless of times or kicked out of the program or be held responsible for my professor's heart attack. So, education it is. The first two semesters were like...chicken! It was during this time when I almost hope I'd make it as one of the best in our class. Though things, have been harder as the years have gone on, it went pretty manageable. Thesis writing of course is another matter. I really dozed off while taking my final exams in a major subject because I hadn't been sleeping for 3 consecutive nights. Then the part I dread the most had finally come. 4th year. The first semester will be spent
