Sunglasses?

Do you take a pair of sunglasses with you when you travel somewhere warm? If not do you buy some sunglasses on your trip? When I was 20 years old I had a pair of ordinary sunglasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses. I had my prescription sunglasses on in the day time outside and in the evening I put on my ordinary glasses. One time I was swimming at a beach in Sydney and my prescription sunglasses came off when a big wave went over my head. Luckily a man got them back for me. One of the lenses had come off so I went to an optician and had a new lense fitted. Later on my trip around the world I went to an optician and got contact lenses. At first I had them on 2 hours, then four hours, then six hours a day until I got used to them. Now all the years later I am still wearing contact lenses and on my trip I take an ordinary pair of sunglasses.

I don't like wearing sunglasses because I don't like to look like a celebrity:) Besides, I am near-sighted. I prefer to wear my optical glasses rather than the sunglasses. I love China

youless, I hope that after reading this, you would realize the importance of investing on a good pair of sunglasses. Studies have proven that prolonged and excessive exposure to the sun can do a lot of damage to our eyes in the long run. This can inflame the conjunctiva, which is the white part of the eye. This condition is called Photokeratitis or Snowblindness. So, be safe and take care here! Ref: http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=19394

when the eye doc told me to STOP WEARING THOSE PROSCRIPTION GLASSES I did as he told me... But I did need sunglasses... So, I went and dug out the glasses I got 35 years ago when I went into contacts for a few months... Still cool after all these years!

I moved to contacts some 20 years ago for the same reason. It is ALWAYS hot here and always sunny. Buying a $100 pair of sunglasses is ridiculous. Sometimes I get glasses at the dollar store or at WalMart and have a LOT of them. In the house, in the car, everywhere. I try not to leave my house without four things... wallet, keys, phone, glasses. If I lose my glasses, break them, whatever... I am out very little money; not to mention there are times I just like to wear something different. Thanks Zelo

Hi maximax! Yes, I bring a pair of sunglasses when I we travel somewhere warm. I easily get blinded by intense sunlight so I always bring a pair of dark sunglasses with me. Sometimes even if the sunlight is not that intense, I still wear a pair of sunglasses as a part of my fashion get up. I usually bring a pair of dark sunglasses especially when we are going swimming. That's one thing I cannot forget to bring. But lately I don't wear them even if the sun is too bright because I sweat a lot lately and my face gets oily and I get uncomfortable when I'm wearing a glasses so I take them off.

I always take sunglasses when going out in sunlight. This could be winter time also. Expecially in winter because the sun is very low in the sky and shines directly into my eyes. My eyes are light-coloured and are very sensitive to bright light, so I really do need sunglasses. _Derek

I lived in a tropical country for a long time. And sunglasses have always been a part of my outfit. I think I still have 20/20 eyesight, so I have had not to wear any other pair other than my sunglasses. Even when I go travelling, this pair always goes with me. Specially if I go to unfamiliar places, where it could very well be sunny.

I rely on contact lenses and keep a pair of spare spectacles handy. Didn't own a pair of sunglasses until last weekend when I noticed sun damage (spots) arouuns my eyes - I'm only 22! Also, I live in Southern India which is tropical. Temperatures soar up tp 40 degree Centigrade here. So sunglasses, umbrella, sunblock lotion woth high SPF, several bottles of cold water are all a must while going out. Its just better not going out..sometimes there's no one out on the streets in the afternoons.

maximax8, Since the depletion of the ozone layer and the seasonal ozone hole, I believe we are all aware that both have led to dangerously high levels of UV radiation which has resulted in higher incident rates on skin cancer otherwise known as melanoma. Unfortunately, the list just does not end there as it is also found to be responsible for an increase number of skin diseases like Albinism, Systemic lupus erythematosus, Porphyrias, Xeroderma pigmentosum and Vitiligo. Of late, it is found that these over exposures does not only affect our skins but our eyes as well. Not in the same manner however, as our skin does. Studies have proven that prolonged and excessive exposure to the sun can do a lot of damage to our eyes in the long run. This can inflame the conjunctiva, which is the white part of the eye. This condition is called Photokeratitis or Snowblindness. Symptoms include tearing, pain, redness, swollen eyelids, headache, a gritty feeling in the eyes, halos around lights, hazy vision, and temporary loss of vision. These symptoms may not appear until 6-12 hours after the UBV exposure. As such, I would advise that we do not overlook the importance of protecting our eyes against such a condition which is a good pair of polarized sunglasses. So, better be safe than sorry here. I can't bear the sunshine while driving without a pair of sunglasses. but it's still inconvenient if there are some tunnels on the highway.I have to put off my sunglasses. What's more, I am farsighted but I can't find good prescription sunglasses.

Here in my country,we have an extreme heat temperature that almost always reaches 38 degrees centigrade during summer and so I see to it that whenever I go out, the must to wear sunglasses is a reminder together with my umbrella.

I tend not to wear them, though I have them. They sit in the glove box in my car, but i never remember to put them on.

I am also wearing a contact lens and would often bring my prescribed eyeglasses on travel. So that when I am not wearing my contact lens, I can put them on. I don't sleep with my contact lens so its important that I have my eyeglass as an alternative.

Hmm... I do not own a pair of sunglasses and I live in a tropical country! Haha. Well, I wear glasses so it's going to be difficult wearing sunglasses. Hehehe. And I don't want to equip my glasses with those tinted lenses... I think I might prefer a hat, cap or visor to shade my eyes from the sun. =)

Well, sunglasses can protect your eyes from the sun's rays. It can help block the suns rays to your eyes but there is other side effect of it.
