This time the playoffs in the IPL have a different format. I am surprised by this format. But it is an interesting innovation. Do you think this format is better or was the earlier one better. Moreover is the new format fair to all?

This is a new idea. We all are accustomed with the old format. This format helps the top two with double chances for getting the entrance in the final and makes the other two (3rd and 4th spot occupiers) the job bit difficult. As they need to win two matches to enter in the final. Earlier, in the regular format all four teams used to get equal chances but this is not very bad as we can hope that top two teams can get another chance as they were toppers in the league matches. One match cannot change their fate.

But I feel that it is better that the team that finishes at the top in the league phase is declared the winner. That way the best team wins for sure.

You are right, that is what done in the league of football and other games. These knock out matches are like luck or fortunes. So imagine, playing well throughout the tournament and falter in the semi final or final match, how do you feel ? So, IPL committee can think about it later. But I don't think this can be implemented ever in IPL. Isn't it ?

Well its little better but i still prefer the format in football like ,EPL,Spanish league etc In this format there is problem is that if the first and second rank team lost in semi final they have got a chance but if they lost in the final they got no chance to try again

I agree with you totally. But they should probably try a best of three final or any other format for the finals atleast. Or maybe there should be no final and semifinal. The team that finishes at the top wins the cup.

I think this is a good format. surely team reaching 2nd position reaches there after a big effort, so there is nothing wrong in giving them one more chance.

But why not a second chance for a team qualifying first then?

I think its a good chance for the top teams if they loose one match still they have chance to come back. But in previous games it wasn't like that. They will come upto the play off then if they loose one match then they are out of the tournament. I feel this format is cool.

This format is really cool. That's absolutely correct but what if the top team wins the semifinal and loses in the final. It lost one game in the playoff and is out, while the second team gets a second chance.

Yes, This format is different one and interesting one. It is more advantage for top two teams to win the tournment even if they loss in one match. So it is a great favor to top teams......

I feel it is a slight disadvantage to the team winning the first semifinal as they have to win their next game to win the IPL whereas the team that loses gets another chance.
