I just realized that when I think of something or find an information in my head, I tend to tilt my head up- I don't know why, the answer isn't really found up there in the ceiling..

lol funny observation... and quite true! hi! most people do the same. i guess there's just a need to focus whenever our mind is at work. usually an inanimate or non-moving object will help us to focus more and think straighter. i generally will focus on something but not necessarily the ceiling. hehe (unless the thought revolves along ceilings.) i sometimes stare out the window of my office or look intently on something when i'm thinking. be it my netbook or a person. or sometimes staring while not really looking, i do that too when i'm in deep thought. if i close my eyes while in deep thought, the relaxed state of my subconscious usually wins and i will doze off for a few minutes. that happens when i'm tired. lol

I think i stare at the ceiling since it doesn't move too.. I don't really stare outside since I am going to be tempted t take note of the plants, the trees or the people.

outside my office is just the garden. the flowers and the greens are very pleasing to the eyes and quite restful on the mind. if it's people, yeah i would not be able to focus. can you imagine ceilings that move? boy, i don't think you can focus. you might get dizzy looking up. hehe

I tend to really look up at the ceiling and pace back and forth at in an erratic and often random manner. It does not really matter if there are people who are there or not, I'm still going to do it. I am still going to pace back and forth and all around, really just thinking about everything. The ceiling really does not hold the answers but it is the point where the least things are going to distract me from what I am thinking about. At least that's the idea in theory. That is really the thing about thinking. There are just certain rituals that are going to allow us to be a bit more focused on our thoughts. Granted, there are times where I just think a little bit here and there, for the sake of really thinking. There are a lot of times where the way I think, I have a feeling that it drives the people around me slightly nuts. Well it is not a feeling, more like I know it drives them nuts, because they tell me. But that is just the way that I think.

Me, I just stare blankly to a wall or look far away up to where my eyes could see.Sometimes I look down or close my eyes and recall whatever answer I could extract from my head.We have different mannerism and most of the time it helps. Thanks for sharing

Yes, i noticed that too with some people. However, for myself, whenever i am thinking, i would close my eyes and think. It's as if in the darkness of my shut eyes, a light will emerge with the solution in it.

I do that sometimes too, but I look up most of the times.. or just stare into space until I get an answer or find what information I am looking for. Thanks for your response

Some people do that. They even call it as thinking deep (which is ironic since you are looking up). Actually, different people have different habit when they think. As for me, whenever I think, i usually look down and close my eyes. I can concentrate hard whenever i do this gesture.
