Inaccurate weather forecasts

Are these new to you? Well, sad to say, here in our country there were lots of these false forecasts from our weather bureau. One time they'll say that your place will be under signal no.3 and all classes will be suspended but viola, it's scorching hot outside and the weather is fine!. And then there are times that they say the vice versa, so most of the time, people we're caught unprepared when typhoons hit their places... The reason? lack of up-to-date or high-tech equipments....Hey, wait a minute, where do all our taxes go?...Just asking

I think that when it comes to weather, forecasts are only good for a few hours. They are never exact. Here or there! But if you're talking about money for equipment being pocketed by corrupt politicians, then that is something else. Maybe they believe that the weather is really too unpredictable that nobody would ever notice if there are new equipments or not.

they are saying those things because if a signal #3 storm is pummelling the area with children having classes then that's troublesome. better safe than sorry they say. and its better than the alternative, too. youre asking where our taxes go? its quite obvious that the country's money went to someone else's pocket.

You can't really make 100% "accurate" weather forecasts. That's why it's called forecasting. What they're doing is predicting the weather for the coming days. I guess we can rely on them to just monitor cold fronts and low pressure areas.

Hi whengcat, Though our technology here is quite updated we really do not get accurate reads and or indication that it is actually going to happen or not. Sometimes they say sunny and warm and it ends up thundering with so much cold. I also feel that so many countries right now are simply experiencing unseasonable way off weather for this time of the year. We are thundering for almost 2 weeks off and on and still so cold here, even though it is suppose to be spring.

Funny you posting this... I remember this one time I was watching the news and came the weather forecast that said weather is good in our place. It was raining haard as he spoke. I even thought if the weather forecast was taped or something. Perhaps, the weather is more fickle than the weather forecast could cope.

From what I heard on some news, the budget given to them by the government isn't enough to buy weather forecast devices so they had to improvise on their data gathering with old fashion methods. But I heard last year there were some donations and funding from both Taiwan and Japan so hopefully they may have bought new equipments.
